A nice, simple Japanese breakfast that’s healthy and satiating. I enjoyed everything in the set but portions are small. Half a star off for the stringy asparagus — for the price and portions, the fibrous part should have been peeled.
I visited this spot with my partner, and let me tell you, it was the kind of brunch experience that makes you question all your previous brunch decisions. The traditional Japanese breakfast was deceptively filling—who knew simplicity could be so satisfying? The flavors were subtle but let the quality of the ingredients do all the talking. The restaurant is cozy, with an ambiance that’s as calm as a Sunday morning should be. Plus, you get the added bonus of watching your food being cooked right in front of you, which is both mesmerizing and a great way to pretend you're a food critic. Just a heads-up, you'll need to plan ahead—this place is so popular that you’ll need to book a table about two weeks in advance. Trust me, it's worth it!
12:30 am on Tuesday lunch. Ordered two large sets with Hake fish Chiju Gosai . Added the poached eggs to mix with rice. The dish tastes phenomenal. Miso soup is a delicious side. Love the sweet potatoes today. Parking was a bit tricky to find within a block. The tea was great as a free beverage option.Food: 5/5
Had a great dining experience at YUJI Ramen in Williamsburg, with reservations ensuring a smooth visit. The food was enjoyable, starting with a crispy Potato Salad and a refreshing scallop appetizer. The eggplant appetizer was decent. The Okonomi Shoyu ramen and Tunakotsu ramen both showcased a distinct fish broth flavor, while the Spicy Tuna mazemen impressed with its bold flavors. Each noodle dish featured a unique type of noodle, adding to the overall experience. A solid spot for ramen enthusiasts.
First up, the Japanese breakfast. You have a choice of 3 fish, and I got the miso swordfish. Slightly bitter for me, but my friend loved it. Super light, but still flavorful. Side dishes were almost too simple, like something I would eat at home, but I guess that's the concept. Really liked the texture of the noodles in the spicy tuna mazemen added ikura. Didn't love the toppings though. You can't really tell if there's spicy tuna and some of the little bits were too hard to chew through.
The food tastes good but very overpriced for what you get. 3 oz ish portion of fish and small bite sides for $4 each. Maybe worth trying once but probably not a second time. Will feel bad if you’ve had this kind of food in Japan for much cheaper.Food: 3/5
This is a nice ramen shop which is very similar to those in Japan . 12 seats only. Small menu which changes seasonally. They offer Mazemen which is very nice. Staff of 2 people are nice. Moderately clean facilities. Public restroom. Food is good. Small portions. Reasonably priced. Credit cards are accepted. Reservations are highly recommended. We will definitely be going back. Came here for the Japanese breakfast in October and we loved it. Every bite was savory! We chose the Yakizakana with 5 sides plus the uni, ikura, and the onsen egg. Although the portions were small, they were surprisingly filling, and a unique sensory experience overall. We recently tried their dinner session and it was also tasty. Amazing to enjoy some ramen with a tuna broth. We ordered the Hokkaido scallops, the smoked whitefish temaki, & two tunakotsu ramen bowls. This was plenty of food for two. My favorite of these was the temaki. Highly recommend making a reservation. We always see this place packed when we pass by it — it’s quite small, with limited seating, but makes for a nice cozy ambiance. Also, we were told the menu changes often — which is something to look forward to if you’re looking to try new flavors.
The place is small and cozy. It is an open kitchen where you get to see the chefs make the food. I was there for the breakfast sets and everything was amazingly good. The fish was moist and flavorful. The vegetables and pickles were light and refreshing. The egg was custardy and buttery. It was a delicious breakfast without feeling heavy. Service is great and well-paced to aid in rotating the people in their limited amount of space. Even though it is pricey for a breakfast, I see myself coming back for great Japanese style breakfast.
Okonomi is their morning/lunch time menu and service; Yuji is their dinner service with ramen. Small restaurant and a fast eating experience. We got the sashimi to share and it was fresh and nice. I really enjoyed the mazemen spicy tuna; the noodle texture and spiciness level were both perfevt. Karakotsu was also good but maybe a bit bland and tame in comparison
