Another Great Military Museum. But if the Museum opens at 10:00 AM on Saturday, why does the gift shop not open until 2:00 PM. At least the gift shop does open on Saturday, unlike the other Museum, but still seems rather idiotic for it not to open at the same time as the Museum itself. My grandchildren were really disappointed not to be able to get a reminder of their visit. Seems to me if you advertise when the Museum opens you would also put on the web the time the gift shop opens. Really idiotic to have it opening 4 hours after the museum.

I wasn't going to expect much walking up, and so I was very surprised and happy when I found this to be a very well put together history of this division. You wind through history, starting with actually horse riding calvary and ending with up to date photos of recent homecomings from deployments. I learned so much and have a greater appreciation for and understanding of the pride that a majority of Ft. Hood soldiers have for 1st Cav.

Very nice museum, could use guides to detail what cannot be put on a info board or plaque. Otherwise, great place to spend an hour or so & the vehicle park was a fave for the lil ones!

We really enjoyed the outdoor area of the museum and plan to go back again to view the inside museum as well. Don't forget to plan in extra time to get your base pass.
