Attended a small birthday gathering of about 20 people last night. We had a cozy private room with 2 servers that were very kind and attentive...... Blake and Claire. The Wedge salad was so tasty! All of the entrees looked good. I had the Filet.....it was outstanding! Cooked perfectly. Very nice place for a special occasion! Parking is tight so take care opening your door.
I went to two Hopewell for a reception after a funeral for a family member and I was very impressed with the ambience of the room, the food and the service. I also adored the fact that they opened up on a day that they're normally closed so that they could provide refreshments to everyone who went to the funeral it was really thoughtful of them to do that. I highly recommend their food but in particular they did a short rib that blew my socks off! The risotto was quite good too! The service was just top-notch they constantly came over and refreshed drinks, they were over the top sweet to the family members. I can't say enough about how great it was and I hope to go there for dinner in the future and order more of those short ribs! :-
Wonderful food and service! We had an earlier reservation time so it was pretty quiet and cozy. Our server was great, food was delicious, refined American with unexpected twists. Not a place to get huge portions, everything is thoughtfully crafted and we didn't waste a bite!
We celebrated our anniversary here last week, on a Thursday night. We had an amazing meal, in a quiet, unpretentious atmosphere. Our filets were delicious, perfectly cooked, and we were able to swap out sides for the charred Brussels sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes with no issues. They had one of my absolute favorite beers from the Maine Brewing Co, "Lunch," on tap. This place really gave us an un-improvable experience, and in this day of hit or miss dining out, staffing shortages, and COVID-19 restrictions, I really must thank & commend the staff both FOH and BOH. I would happily recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a splurge worthy dinner out!!!
We enjoyed our anniversary dinner in the tavern and everything was perfect! We had the wedge salad best we’ve ever had, calamari which they made gluten free upon request, and I had the filet/hubs had short rib. Everything was delicious, and they even sent us home with a special anniversary dessert! Thank you for helping us celebrate, can’t wait to come back.
Very nice. Way to dark. I could not read the menu very well. Print of the menu was too small. The dinner was good hot fresh. I did not appreciate the female wait staff placing other peoples dinner in front of me instead of them going around the table. I found this very rude and unhygienic it put me off. Male wait staff was on point excellent. Although pleasant I will not be returning.
Overall it was very good, just nothing exceptional. The risotto was tight and a tad too al dente, the scallops a bit overdone, the bread pudding was slightly dry. Kind, attentive service, and nice ambiance. We’ll likely come again because it’s a great location, and to see if it might be better next time.
The food was just ok, especially for the price and had a terrible experience. I went on a double date to this restaurant to celebrate my sister in laws anniversary. We were looking forward to live music, but was told that there was none. I ordered the braised beef and it wasn’t very flavorful. It just tasted like a bunch of meat. My wife didn’t like her meal, but we didn’t send it back. She didn’t eat hers and I figured I would box it and have it for lunch the following day. When the bill came our party of 4 asked for our bill to be split in 2 tipped 10% combined 20.00 total on a $200 bill. After taking some pictures in the restaurant and starting to exit, I see our server approaching us in the lobby. This is after he whispers something to a women and I guess she gives him the green light, but I didn’t hear hear their conversation. He ask if we were happy with his service with a perplexed look on his face. I responded that we were and figured the conversation would end. He proceeded, right in the middle of the lobby, to continue the conversation that based on how low the tip we left him was he wondered if he could have done anything differently. My sister in law was mortified and I was annoyed. I felt like I was purposely being strong armed by our waiter trying to embarrass us into giving him a larger tip by making a scene. We’ll, his plan worked and after my wife and I left, my sister came back and tipped more money. My party is African American, I wonder if that conversation would have happened if we were all White. Probably not I imagine. I felt like I was being haggled in a 3rd World marketplace as opposed to eating at a “fine” dining restaurant. I called to speak to the manager immediately from my car and her response is what let me know that my speculations weren’t far off. I explained what happened and she said that the tip is the only way a server know his level of performance and that 10% is considered low. I countered with, that when he asked I told him everything was fine, so his question about performance had been answered. Him going on publicly about how low the tip was was distasteful and dampened the evening. She agreed, apologized and that was it. I’ve eaten at all levels of restaurants from Red Robin to the Addison, a Michelin starred restaurant in San Diego and I have never experienced anything ever like this. We will never return to this establishment or ever recommend it.
Small homely place with a rustic feel and unique menu. The Whistler was an interesting cocktail and the Peach Blanco sounded better than it tasted. A different Caesar salad with kale offered a bitterness that lacked a sweet counter but overall was very good. Another appetizer we had was the fried short rib mac n cheese bites, which were fantastic! My wife and I got the Airline Chicken and Short Ribs, both of which were very good. The Airline Chicken especially had great spice that was complimented by the feta watermelon salad and hearty cauliflower mash and squash. The short ribs were very flavorful but needed more gnocchi. To finish we got sorbet too small and the Blueberry Crisp excellent. Overall it was a great experience and I would love to go back.
Always excellent food ambiance and service. Have been here many times and will continue to come back. Highly recommend. Thank you.Food: 5/5
