My husband and I went to watch the tall ships arrive on July 3.  While driving down the freeway at about 3:30pm, we noticed about 6 open parking spaces in the Standard lot on 9th and marginal.  We turned towards the lot, and when we arrived there was a "Lot Full" sign posted.  Knowing there were spaces, we continued to drive up to the ticket window only to watch the attendant walking towards her car.  My husband got out of our car, walked over to the attendant and asked if we could park there.  The response was "Can't you read the sign, the lot is full."  He explained to her that we saw several spaces from the freeway and she finally, reluctantly let us in (along with at least two other cars that were behind us.   Very poor customer service, and lost revenue for the lot.  You would think that the goal would be to keep the spaces filled, and a good attendant would be watching to see if cars are leaving to allow others in to re-fill the empty spaces.
