I visited A Nu U Transitional Salon for the first time a week ago and Crystal Baptiste was absolutely wonderful! I have been natural for several years now and have been looking for someone who has years of experience with styling and growing natural hair. Crystal is definitely that stylist! I loved how transparent and honest she was about my hair and appreciated her advice on hair care products and ways to take better care of my natural hair. 

The salon is very intimate and inviting. Very neat and clean! And not to mention great conversations! 

I have already recommended several co-workers to her. I'm excited for my next visit!

Yes yes yes!!! I love this place. Please understand that while it's not always easy to get a haircut appointment here when you want it is worth it. Since coming to Charlotte it's not easy to find a place that takes care of natural hair and actually help it become healthier.  The owner is very educational about hair and is not shy about telling you what kind of help you need for it. We need that. If I could give her 1,000 stars I would. Only place that I trust with my hair. Loyal customer here.

Crystal helped transition my relaxed hair in April 2014 before I big chopped in May 2014. I have been natural for almost 2 years now. As of November 2015, I HAD bra strap length hair when it's completely straight. Yes I said.. HAD bra strap length hair. I only straighten my hair twice a year and she's fine when she does that. But she doesn't know natural hair as well as I thought she did. I went in for a wash and go/trim yesterday and came out looking awful. My hair was extremely dry from the shampoo she used. She didn't follow up with enough conditioner to moisturize it. She completely combed out my curls so she could trim my hair, but didn't realize she had to re-wet my hair to apply curling jelly to HOLD MY CURLS. As a result, half of my hair was complete frizz and the other half just did not look like my normal curls. And she also cut off a good 2-2.5 inches of my hair, which was way more than she should have taken off. So whatever length progress I made since November was unexpectedly set back. My curls always give me confidence, but I was completely embarrassed at how I looked yesterday to the point where I re-washed it myself this morning. Needless to say, I will be doing more research on Charlotte stylists who REALLY ARE knowledgeable on natural hair.
