AAA is a wonderful resource for so many things OTHER than tow services. They have helped me plan many trips, fixed my car, and saved me money on my car insurance. Good folks work there, and I enjoy seeing them each time I come in. WORTH EVERY PENNY!

New AAA member, so just because I could, I took vehicle in for "free" four point inspection knowing I needed new spark plugs . Come to find out checking those is not part of their four point inspection and would have to pay for that. Items they stated needed replaced or repaired extremely overpriced. Took it to my reliable mechanic who verified I did need plugs but not the other two. His bill: $104. AAA quote: $189!

Our daughter’s car had to be towed in during a significant N.C. snow event. AAA got to her quickly and made the repairs at the AAA Car Care Center in Asheville (Merrimont Ave) within a couple of hours of her calling. They allowed us to pay over the phone. She had no money for gas. They (Tommy Wilkes) gave her money for gas and refused to let us reimburse them. That is above and beyond keeping people safe on the roads. Can’t tell you the relief we felt having people hours away not only do a professional job, but also provide peace of mind! Great job! Can’t thank you enough!

In October of last year we began planning a trip to Europe. We have little experience in this kind of travel so our hope was to obtain better information than we possessed. We have always had AAA all the years we've been driving as during some of those periods of time, our vehicles were older models. I have been rescued by AAA on numerous occasions for the charging of batteries, towing, keys inside cars and the usual kinds of circumstances that people generally phone them to report. For that purpose. they have always worked efficiently~ if taking somewhat more time to arrive than one would have hoped for. In the realm of trip planning, trip assistance, airline reservations, counselling of any kind regarding hopefully drawing on some experience one might expect to find in a travel agency, we have been sorely disappointed! We initially made an appointment with a woman working in this agency. We arrived at the appt. questions in hand with the idea we'd be planning the trip and it's itinerary with her, hence the appointment. She suggested a tour group. We really aren't tour group kind of folks and hoped for her assistance in a more personalized manner. When we declined the "tour idea", she spent possibly 10-15 mins with us. She took our information and said she'd be back to us when she had some plans. 3 weeks went by and we did not hear from her. I then contacted her by email asking if she'd had time to put anything together for us. She said she'd been just ready to call us. She had very little put together and no suggestions for any more. We commenced the planning of the airlines ourselves and the rest of the trip as well. Before we actually booked the flight, we again returned to AAA thinking perhaps it could be accomplished there. I was shown to a desk, handed the phone after one of the agents called a number and told I could "use that desk" and the phone to book my flight. I did get someone on the phone then but after a bit of thought determined that if this was a do it yourself mission, I could more readily accomplish that in my own living room which I did. My sister, traveling with us, found herself at AAA office picking up some maps and encountered another employee at this location. Though not in travel, she offered to help. As we'd not been very lucky in getting help from them during our last attempt, she agreed. My sister was told to return to the AAA office on Thursday or Friday. She went in there today. She encountered the manager and asked for the employee that had asked her to return today. She was informed she was not there. She was not told if she was at lunch or if she was returning so she left the store. I hope our experience will relay that if you have chosen to be an AAA member and any part of the reason you made that decision would entail finding helpful assistance in trip planning , you might be better served pursuing another venue.

I had clutch problems, called AAA. Tow truck owner was very nice, had to work and try several times to get into a very narrow driveway with multiple cars on the street. John at AAA explained what the possibilities were and was very helpful, called me shortly to discuss the problem. Clutch was ok. Flushed and bled the system, removed and replaced the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, replaced the fluid, did an oil change and a state inspection. Got my car back within less than a day. Total charge was 539.80. I felt this was a good price and excellent service. Will be renewing my contract with AAA!
