For the few places to go in Abilene, this place nails it for buying camp gear to start or to get when in a hurry and missed a last minute camping luxury. Pretty well stocked on ammo, of which sometimes are marked down a little bit, and a decent selection of fire arms. Fair warning to any military people who have not been to a single academy in your life, dont be mad, but unfortunately they don't do military discount. I still enjoy shopping here anyways and I'm in the military :)

Academy always has a good selection of hunting and fishing supplies and very knowledgeable people working. Bought a hunting rifle on sale and the salesman even took time to bore sight the scope for me. When i got to the range i only had to make a one click adjustment . Thank you.

We got offered absolutely no help. We had to get a ladder to get some boots down off top shelf ourselves. I hope the new store has better employees that are willing to help customers.

Store is currently downsizing stock in order to move to thier newly built facility. So at the moment there are lots and lots of reduced, clearance, and bargin deals. But also the shelves are beginning to become bare.

I would give them no stars if I could. I ordered the PT 111 deal with the free Rough Rider 2 1/2 weeks ago. On the day I was supposed to come pick it up I called ahead to make sure it was there. The sales associate confirmed my order was there. When I went in to pick it up I was told that my reservation never went through and my only solution was to come stand in line on black Friday for the chance to get it. I'll never be coming back to this store.
