Story

Al Quick Stop & Grill, also known as Al's, is a family-run convenience store located in the Montrose area of Houston, TX. In Arabic Al means The, so we pride ourselves on being THE go-to shop for all your needs. Whether its groceries or your appetite, we've got you covered.

Here at Al's we serve a wide variety of foods ranging from Mediterranean to Tex-Mex, burgers, and more. We also have over 75 different types/brands of beer & wine and over 85 types/brands of tobacco related products.

Our kitchen is open from 8am to 10pm everyday of the year and the rest of the store stays open until midnight. Al's is also open on Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, and every other holiday of the year, so we'll make sure you stay stocked up and fed!

I love this place and walk here almost every weekend for a breakfast taco. The service is very friendly (if sometimes a bit delayed), and they definitely remember the regulars. The food here is also surprisingly good for a convenience store. They have some of the most tender, flavorful and well-prepared gyro meat I have ever had. The hummus is also very well done.

Al's Quick Stop has everything you need. Small convenience store with basic groceries and personal needs. Al's Quick Stop also has a full grill that offers amazing Mediterranean food, with a little Tex-Mex thrown in. They were one of the few places open during Hurricane Harvey in our neighborhood.

This place really rocks. Personally I prefer it over the busier / flashier (and MUCH more expensive) places like Niko Niko. You would never guess, just driving by, that they make some of the best food in Montrose inside. The prices are very fair for what you get--and it's made to order while you wait. One of the best things about this place is that it remains a hole in the wall... a secret that never really seems to get out. You'll probably never see a 2nd or 3rd location... they'll probably never change the decor or put better signage out front... or advertise... all of which would certainly make them a lot of money. Because I think, from my few interractions with him over the years, the owner is perfectly happy making delicious, affordable food for the neighborhood--while earning an honest, decent living doing it. The menu has continued to broaden over the years--and I'm sure it's all delicious. But when I get hankerin' for Al Quick Stop, it's always giro plate and / or falafels for me. (The last time I was in they had a special--"giro fries"--which was really tempting: A basket of fries covered with giro meat and other tasty looking morsels (feta and tomatoes perhaps?). I'll probably give that a shot next time.

Uber Goods was always recommending me this but OMG it blew my mind. My family is unique: dad doesn’t like to get away from his Mexican food (only on occasions) and my mom and I LOVE Mediterranean food and trying new places. Anyway, this place is perfect, because all of us were happy and even my dad tried some of our food and he loved it. I especially like that they cooked the carne asada right on the spot. 10/10. Will recommend.

Very mean and rud cashier. Were speaking with a phone when I was waiting for check out. Will never shop there any more.
