Remarkable selection of beer at a high gas station price.

Just your standard little convenience store with everything you would expect with one exception, they have craft beer and a decent wine selection. They have a good selection of all the various styles of beer from Double IPAs to light lagers.

Stop at Joe's Food Store. For Real. 

Joe's is one of those gems you can only find in Montrose or in the Heights. The store is owned and operated by folks I can only assume to be Joe's immediate family. When you walk in, you can easily get distracted by the slot machines or all the asian tchotchke's like waving fortune cats and little Buddhas with fat bellies. 

The best thing, to me, about Joe's is their fantastic beer selection. As we all know, a good portion of the Heights is dry. I actually don't even know where to buy liquor in the Heights, much less good beer. Joe's has anything you want from giant cans of ice cold 4Loko to six packs of No Label Brewing's Jalapeno Ale (delicious). I can count on Joe's to always have something I've never heard of stocked in their cooler. Especially great, is that you can probably go an entire year only drinking Texas brewed craft beers from Joe's. In fact, most of the aisle's in this food store are dedicated to beers, wines, and mixers. So if you are looking for grapes rather than hops, they can help you out.

There are always multiple family member's working the counters and I always have an excellent encounter with them. This is a must-stop place in the Heights if you are looking for a convenient store. They are also right next door to the new Lei Low Rum Bar, which serves a cocktail in a giant shell with orchids and crazy stuff floating all in it. Pretty great little shopping center, if you ask me.
