Story

ACAR is a family owned and operated, AAA approved auto repair facility: the only independent shop in Augusta to have that honor. Our ASE certified technicians perform all levels of repair, from simple bulb replacement, state inspections, brakes, steering, suspension, tires and exhaust. To more complicated computer diagnostics on the emissions system, engine, transmissions etc. All of our technicians are required to be AAA approved, ASE certified and hold a valid Maine State Inspection License. We maintain a comprehensive assortment of factory and aftermarket computer diagnostic tools; so that we are able to keep ahead of the ever changing automotive repair business.

John was very nice. Had a car inspection there. 2 light bulbs were out. So in total, paid just under $100 to replace and install those. Asked if we should get snow tires as we are new to the area. He said, there not always needed but his wife has studded winter tires. Advised checking them out after the first snow. I did.. And my car slid off the road into a ditch causing 1,200 damage to my car. I really regret not getting those snow tires.. But appreciated the candor and help I received.

Al's C.A.R. is great. My car broke down and they got me in for repair immediately. Every step of the process was clearly explained, and the work done was impeccable too. Highly recommend.

Got us in real quick, but the prices are ghastly. Al's quoted almost 500 bucks for something that their nearest competitor did for 300. Window motor. Pretty cut and dry repair. I believe most auto repair places in Augusta bump their prices up a bit to gouge the little man. You can find higher prices in Augusta, compared to outside the city. Hannaford does it too.

Referred to Al's from my extended warranty. Drove an hour over from the coast.

Excellent customer service!!! Truly accommodating and customer oriented at the front desk. Al himself was even there. I appreciate an owner on premise, it says so much for the company.The boys behind the wall had my car fixed fast. Best og both worlds.

I would recommend them any day.

Al, blue 86' RX-7, plate antique auto 98. I wanted to like Al's, but was let down and parts are marked up thru the roof!! The 1st job, the car would not start. Towed to Al's, it took them a week to change the sparkplugs and oil and filter. That was $300. There was a problem with a small clutch part, the repair orders are in the car. The blake fluid was WAY overpriced. Then a sloppy repair to the windshield wipers, that had to be taken to another garage, that got the correct parts in 2 days and fixed the wipers properly.
