About Us:

Albanese Sinchar Smith & Co. strives to provide the highest quality of services to our clients, meet our obligations to the public and our community, and to conform to the standards of our profession. All three of the founding partners have over 25 years of focusing on excellence in client service, and providing depth and breadth of expertise to multiemployer benefit plans and labor unions. We focus on being available and accessible to clients, and being able to deliver the services and solutions that support their needs.
In early 2013, Albanese Sinchar Smith & Co. was created when the founding members – James Albanese, Joanna Sinchar and Gary Smith — joined forces to become the accounting firm of choice for multiemployer benefit plans and labor unions and since that time other highly qualified individuals have joined our firm.
Joanna Sinchar received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Accounting degree from Robert Morris University and is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She has over 25 years of experience in the accounting industry. In addition, Joanna is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Employee Benefit Plan Audit Quality Center and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

James Albanese has over 25 years of experience performing payroll compliance audits. Jim received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Science in Business Administration from Robert Morris University. In addition, he is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE). Jim is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans

Gary Smith has over 20 years of experience performing payroll compliance audits. Gary received a Bachelor of Science degree from California University of Pennsylvania and is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Paul Block, Tax Manager, holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics/Math from Allegheny College, a Master in Business Administration in Accounting from Duquesne University, a Master of Science in Taxation from Robert Morris University and a Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law. Paul is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Pittsburgh Planned Giving Council (PPGC) and the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh (EPC). In addition, Paul serves on committees with Gateway to the Arts and Pennsylvania Organization for Women in Early Recovery (POWER) and is a board member of the Animal Rescue League, Bach Choir of Pittsburgh, Consumer Health Coalition and The Persad Center.
