This place is amazing!! By far the best Mexican tacos I've had! The orchata is delicious and you really have to check out the chips with mole! The service is great and they have a lot of option, including vegetarian options!! I super recommended this restaurant!
Love At First Sight!......... Nestled behind one of Bends quaint little hostels, Bunk & Brew, is Alebrije Oaxaca. While not much to see from the tight alley parking lot out back, as you round the corner into the courtyard pops out this gorgeous, multicolored, almost psychedelic scene of figures in a case. They are known as Alebrije or spirit guides and man did the spirits guide me to the right place! Once I was done admiring the culture being presented I move on to the menu. There are a plethora of offerings that all sounded very delicious and I was having a hard time making up my mind what to try for the first time so I asked if they would surprise me... What came out was beyond my expectations! A crispy bright orange QuesaBirria Torta, Toasted bolillo, shredded beef, cheese, sour cream, onion and cilantro with consome a couple of limes and a green and red hot sauce. This was a well made torta, the consume was rich and abundant with spices. The green sauce had a nice balance of tangy, salty, very mild heat while the red sauce packed a good little punch with a quick fading heat allowing you to keep going. All of the orders coming out were hot and steaming and it was easy to catch a whiff in the air from the kitchen and smell a thick aroma of Oaxacan style Mexican food! Pricing was very good and there are plenty of options on the menu to keep you coming back for more. There is a really neat vibe in the courtyard at Bunk & Brew where Alebrije resides as well. Parking: Parking is limited, prepare to park and walk there!
The Quesabirria tacos were a little too crunchy. The dipping sauce made no difference to me. The carne asada used for the other meals had a lot of fat and meat was flavorless. Not sure it it was the meat or the cheese that made it very salty. Tortillas were homemade but again simply plain. Definitely over priced. Bathrooms and outdoor seating available. Staff was friendly. Will not return.
Mole enchiladas were great! Rice and beans could use some more flavor personally I would put some garlic cloves and garlic salt when cooking beans. The rice I would imagine some tomato flavored chicken bullion could go along way. I love to see there’s a place serving really good mole enchiladas! Rare find! This place has huge potential in bring “at-home” authentic style cuisine!
O. M. G. you guys! This place is killer! We found it on accident by following the sound of live music down an alley. I'm so glad we did! Who knew I had to leave California to find great Oaxacan food! This is the third oaxacan food truck I've found between Eugene and Bend. The quesabirria was so flavorful. I'll probably dream about it tonight! Vegetarian options: There's a handful of options on their menu
The Quesabirria was amazing! Highly recommend. Tender, high quality beef with amazing consommé! Huge portions. The beer garden was beautiful as well!
Delicious food, friendly service, modest prices. Nice ambience. Highly recommend the nachos and add some birria or other protein on top. My husband said the mole enchiladas were also fantastic, super tasty.
I used to have another favorite Mexican restaurant in Bend but that's no longer the case as the quality and authenticity of this place has taken first place for me! So many delicious options like the freshly made chips, mole enchiladas, tortas, burritos, pozole and menudo as non permanent specials. Heavily recommend you try it out! Vegetarian options: Beans, rice, quesadilla, nachos Kid-friendliness: Quesadillas, nachos, chips Parking: A few spots in the alley, some street
I'm absolutely in love with the food. I have tried nearly every restaurant that serves Mexican food and this is by far the tastiest, most authentic food in Bend. I think what stands out the most is how flavorful their meat is. This is my favorite spot to eat in Bend and my favorite place to get taquitos.
The most authentic Mexican food from Oaxaca I have ever had. I feel like I was teleported to Oaxaca and eating in a family kitchen. I heard the family recipes have been handed down from generation to generation. Eating here is a must, with a cool international atmosphere.
