Great place to see if you have a little time on your hands! Would highly recommend this location as a wedding venue location for those of you that may be looking. This place transforms beautifully with the right planner!

For a small museum, they have really good exhibits. Currently, the Hudson River School examples are breath taking.

Nothing to get out of your way to visit  but if in or coming through Alexandria  a neat little museum worthwhile a 30-60 min spin.  
1st floor had a well documented temporary exhibition (6/3 - 8/20/2016) "Purchased Lives" about the American slave trade. I would have liked more artifacts or contemporary paintings, photographs. 
The 3rd floor, only accessible by elevator, had an interesting exhibition of recent paintings and sculptures from local artists.

Alexandria Museum of Art is one of my favorite places in the area. The exhibits are always interesting. The museum gives back to to community with art classes, yoga, local artists & fun.
