The arranging of the cremation was very easy. There were a couple of paperwork snafus in the beginning but that was not expected. The real problem came today when a family member went to pick up the remains. The first problem was that they stated the person was not on the release form. Hmmmmm, that would be impossible for multiple reasons that I won't go into. That person had to wait for them to locate the correct release and verify they were on the release. BTW, this was all confirmed yesterday by me when I got the call that his remains were ready. After that was cleared up they brought out the box. It was noted by the family member that the box was very small so they asked if the urn was in there. They "confirmed" that it was. When the box was brought home, it was opened expecting to see the urn so that it could be displayed. Instead, the box only had a plastic bag in it with the ashes!!!! That was devastating to the person who opened it. What went from being a good day suddenly turned very very sad with lots of tears. I called their toll free number and first spoke with someone who was very unconcerned with the situation. It actually made me think that this might be a regular occurrence and she has to deal with it regularly. I then spoke with someone who was much more compassionate and understanding. The first option that I was given was to get a refund for the urn (I guess so that we could go shopping for one at Walmart?????). The next option was that they could mail us one. Two very unappealing choices for multiple reasons. I had to suggest that they send someone out to finish the job they started. To their credit they did agree to do so, however this should have never happened to begin with. This has been an emotionally traumatizing and anger inducing event .
