A couple of nights ago, around 11:30 pm, our guinea pig, Steve, had what we thought might be a seizure. He could not get his balance, kept moving in a circle with his head tilted left, and his eyes were darting back and forth very rapidly. After calling a few emergency vets to find who would treat a guinea pig, we were referred to All Species in Duluth, GA, with Dr. Innocent. This was a horrible experience. We have had multiple pets, multiple species, over the last 20 years. We have a lot of experience with different veterinarians, different illnesses, crises, and have made the difficult choice of euthanasia on more than one occasion. Never have we experienced this treatment or blatant disregard for an animal’s wellbeing. Upon arrival, we first had to complete four or five pages of paperwork, plus make payment, before Steve was even taken back to be assessed. We were then ushered into an exam room to wait for the doctor. Dr. Innocent walked in shaking his head saying, “not good”. He hadn’t even looked at Steve yet. He then very roughly grabbed Steve, causing him to squeak and whimper, looked in his eye for about five seconds and stated, “brain tumor.” He did not elaborate. When we asked what that meant, he shrugged his shoulders and said “death.” Again, not elaborating. We had to press him for more information and the more questions we asked the terser he became. He kept repeating the words “brain tumor,” and “death,” like it was all we really needed to know. He finally said that only three things could cause the rapid eye movement that Steve was exhibiting; trauma, toxicity, or brain tumor. And since Steve had had no trauma or exposure to chemicals, it had to be a brain tumor. We asked how this could come up so suddenly and without symptoms, and he told us there were symptoms that we had just missed. He said a head tilt and lack of appetite would have been present. We tried to explain that there had not been a noticeable head tilt, and if anything, Steve’s appetite had been greater recently, but the doctor interrupted us to tell us that we had just missed the symptoms. We took Steve and left. After calling quite a few more places, we found an animal emergency hospital in Atlanta. Steve was taken back immediately and was assessed while we did the necessary paperwork. This doctor said that Steve most likely had either a deep-seated ear infection or an animal version of vertigo. Brain tumors were not even mentioned until we asked about it. This doctor said brain tumors were exceptionally rare in guinea pigs. We were advised to take Steve to his regular doctor the next day for treatment. The regular doctor confirmed what the emergency doctor diagnosed. Antibiotics and inflammatory medications were prescribed. It has been about three days and Steve is doing just fine; very little head tilt and dizziness left at all. Upon further research, we discovered that head tilts due to deep ear infections are common in guinea pigs, and can present with little to no symptoms whatsoever. We mentioned how Dr. Innocent diagnosed Steve with a brain tumor after looking at his eyes to the other emergency vet and to the tech at Steve’s primary care office. They were both bewildered. We’ve since read many, many reviews on this man, and others have had the same sort of experience. In twenty years of being pet owners, we have never experienced anything like this. AND, we do not write bad reviews, but this guy should not be trusted with animals. Dr. Innocent should have his license revoked. Actually, we are very grateful Dr. Innocent was so rude and condescending. If he had been polite and professional in the explanation of his diagnosis, we probably would have put Steve down that night, believing that would have been the best for him. Steve is only two.

I leave this vet furious every time I'm there. My animals are afraid of the doctor (with good reason). I'd never heard my kitten scream until I took her here. And he cut my rat's teeth without my permission while she was awake. She has chronic lung issues and he sold me a $75 medication that he said was designed for rats. But then he prescribed it to my kitten, too. Waits are long. And he will bad mouth any decision made by any other vet you've seen. I am never going back there again.

We take our little parakeets to this fabulous establishment. They are one of only a very few who are certified Avariary specialists in our area. The owner, Dr. Innocent, and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and caring and treat our babies as family. We'll make sure our sweeties remain patients for their entire lives.

I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anyone, prices are ridiculous and do unnecessary tests. They made us spend $646 for just cat fever, still weren’t sure if they knew what was wrong with our cat. I really hope people read this review so they are mentally prepared, before walking into this place.

DISORGANIZED, UNPROFESSIONAL. I had two goats die of unknown causes and brought them here - after calling first - to have the held overnight and delivered to a diagnostic lab the following day. I got there and the two young staff that checked me in had no idea how to handle the bodies, or where to put them inside. After spending over an hour there, I was later called to go back to the office because they didn't have me sign all the right forms. Was told I would be charged hundreds more because they charged me the wrong amount the first time. Then told later I would not have to pay because it was their mistake. Then called again because they needed more medical records after my two visits already. All of these phone calls made to my office phone number on Saturday and Sunday day and evenings. Never bothered to try my cell phone which I'd listed in multiple places on the paperwork I'd turned in. Now an extra day has passed and they have not been delivered to the lab. Hopefully whatever killed them has not degraded so completely that the lab won't be able to determine the cause. Will NEVER come here again. Not to mention the astronomical price for transport and cremation.
