Went to the Clarksburg, MD Allen Edmunds store to get a new pair of shoes. The store is very small with a poor selection. The service was even poorer. The manager was training a new employee and barely said hello. A customer called in an order. The manager was very thorough regarding shipping options and return policy. The manager was very careful to repeat the customer’s credit card number, expiration date, billing zip code, and three digit security code. By this time I had seen everything and was ready to buy. Nothing doing! The manager went right back to training. Then a third employee strolled in with her dinner. A few minutes later she asked if I needed help. I said I’d like to by a pair of shoes just like the Allen Edmunds shoes that I have on. She said what about these? I said nope. She said what about these? I said maybe. Then I said do you have these in my size? She said what size do you wear? At this point I felt like I was in a pic-n-save. So I said I’ll buy my shoes elsewhere. Very disappointed with the quality of service. Maybe this review can be incorporated into the Allen Edmunds training program.

AE shoes are the best. You can find really good deals if you look.

Had a really great shopping experience here tonight! Recently got my first pair of AE shoes and, well, now every other shoe I own feels cheap. I visited the store to pick out a pair of dress/ casual shoes for work and for dressier casual outfits (ie wearing nice chinos and a button up to the art gallery). I wasn't quite sure what to expect from an AE outlet, but was assured by Ashley (visiting manager from another store who said she was helping train at this new location) that the quality of the shoes at their outlets is the same as their retail locations- the shoes just have cosmetic imperfections. I asked the quality question first thing because it is known that a lot of companies sell inferior merchandise at outlet locations. Indeed these are the same high quality I now expect from AE. Ashley and the other saleslady Dasia were really great in hunting down my size in a Walnut colored shoe with a plain or cap toe (wanted a clean design in Walnut for versatility), and were also really transparent about pointing out what kind of blemishes the shoes had- the most common being 'tiger stripped' leather or blemished leather. Note sizes were kind of a hodge-podge so this location very well might not have your size, but apparently they can reach out to other AE outlets and their 'shoe-bank' locations to find what you want an no extra charge. I ended up settling on their Fifth Avenue- priced at ~295, or ~100 off retail. The shoes are a near perfect 10, and only when you stick the shoe to your face can you see a blemish or two. However, there were some models I'd rank more around a 7, but I didn't really pay attention to whether or not those had deeper discounts. Customer service here was really great also- Ashley and Dasia were both super friendly and I ended up chatting with them for almost an hour about shoes, fashion choices, and our jobs as they helped me pick something out. Though my wallet might shudder a little bit at this comment but I definitely feel myself making a return trip soon! As I said, once you go AE every other shoe will look and feel sub-par....
