The Allentown Public Library Association is a non profit corporation which owns and operates a historic building to house a branch of the Monmouth County Library System.
The Allentown Public Library was established over a hundred years ago, one of the first public libraries in the State of New Jersey. Until the 1970’s, the library operated out of homes on Main Street which donated space. In 1974 members of a visionary library board purchased the fire damaged Baptist Church on Main Street as a permanent home. Over the next two decades, the community raised money to pay down the mortgage debts as well as to fund major capital improvements.
