This is just my opinion: I am completely shocked by her unprofessionalism. She is a drug pusher - and they aren't even cheap drugs. Two things she prescribed me were over $600, and one was over $900! My insurance wouldn't cover these drugs because they had all been on the market for less than a year, but Dr. Almazan gave me tons of samples of them. I'm thinking she probably has a relationship with a regional distributor, as that is how we got samples of medications when I was working at a vet, which benefitted us. Who knows, maybe she is benefitting from these outrageously priced medications. I can't be sure. She also seems to know nothing about the drugs she prescribed me - she told me Lorazepam had a thirty minute half life (it doesn't, it's 12-14 hours) and that Vraylar had a 3 hour half life (again incorrect, it's 2-4 DAYS). I am sad to see she yelled at others until they cried, but after seeing her for many sessions I am even sadder to say they are not alone, as she yelled at me for saying Belsomra was giving me horrible side effects until I cried to the point of having a panic attack. I left the appointment in tears. This woman doesn't listen to anything you say. Expect in the first two sessions to feel good about how she listens to you. Once she jumps to conclusions about your mental state she will rediagnose you, as she did with me. Unfortunately her diagnosis was incorrect in my case. After those initial appointments if you try to get a word in she will interrupt you with her opinions and assumptions and take what you are saying and twist it to match her ideas of what is going on in your head. She thinks she knows best, but after she put me on too many medications including one that dropped my BP to dangerously low levels I have come to realize she is not to be trusted. She told me this past session she planned to add more medications once my current ones are stabilized (why add more meds if the ones that you are on are working?) and when I asked why there's a need to do that she avoided the questions and said something about some drug guidelines saying you can be on ~7 medications at a time safely and legally. This was appalling to me. I would assume a psychiatrist would want to give you the least medications needed for you to be stabilized, not so many that you are a zombie. Please, for the sake of your own health, look into a different psychiatrist. I am currently a patient of hers but I will not be returning after my horrid experience today of her yelling at me and literally slamming her hand on her desk as she yelled. If I knew how to file a formal complaint I would.

Hands down worst doctor. She literally yelled at me til I cried because she kept giving me meds and I was still sad. Completely unprofessional. I cant help that i was still sad. But this is her profession; to help the mentally ill. And for her to yell and me like that was appalling. I left

I had an absolutely horrible experience with this doctor. She should not be practicing medicine. She is concerned about nothing more than her ego and pushing unneeded drugs. I cannot begin to tell you of the horrors that I experienced with this woman, the threats, taking advantage of me when I was having emotional problems. She gave me tranquilizers that put me to sleep for several days at a time.

I have been seeing Dr. Almazan for almost 4 years. Her diagnosis of me during my first visit was that I am suffering from bipolar disorder based on some paper tests she gave me.. I made some qualifying comments on the tests but those were ignored. All of my family and friends said they have never seen any manic behaviors in me. But she was imtent that this bipolar disagnosis was correct. But it was self serving. She had written a book about the diease. As time went on she continually threw more meds at me and I felt worse and worse. She had me on Cymbalta at one point and I felt great. But she didn't listen to me. In her mind I am still bipolar. Her solution to every thing is to add another med. I am currently on five different meds that make be feel horrible. The last time I went two weeks ago I told her again that I felt listless and had no energy left to enjoy my life. I couldn't do simple things like house cleaning or dishes. She prescribed Luvigil which is a medicine for peope who have narcolepsy or sleep apnea. She accussed me of wanting to get off my meds. She wouldn't listen to what I was saying. She told me that we had run out of options and the next step is shock therapy. I have an appoinment with another doctor today and I hope he can get me off the meds and onto something that makes me feel better. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
