SHORT- Dr Ramon Ferrer was not professional in my experience on January 16, 2018. He did not try de-escalating a tense situation. Patient felt forced to raise her hand to try to be heard, he spoke in snide way to patient. I would never recommend this doctor. DETAILED- I started seeing Doctor Ramon Ferrer in December 2017. The first appointment was fine. He was nice, sort-of listened to me. At the time, I thought any “listening” issues might have to do with his age and possible hearing loss, since I did experience times where he didn’t hear me during that initial appointment that I had to then get his attention and speak louder. I gauged that he is probably a good person and a fun family man type guy. The second appointment seemed OK and he started me on a sample of medication to partner with another that I am on. It actually made me severely nauseous so I had to stop taking it. (I don’t blame him for that) The third appointment was 6 days ago. I had my husband come with me (he had also come to appot #2 and other appts with my previous psychiatrist. Remember, this is an appointment for the wife, husband does NOT have to be there. It is optional ). Without going too personal, my husband started talking and going into things that were more appropriate for a couples counseling session. Doctor Ferrer allowed me to speak after my husband for only about 2 minutes in MY APPOINTMENT. He then, continually spoke over me and made a few comments to me in a snide manner. I sat there a significant portion of the appointment raising my hand to be heard by my doctor, IN MY APPOINTMENT, and he still never asked me why my hand was up. A therapists/psychiatrists office is the quintessential “safe space”. Since my words were obviously not going to be heard in My Safe Space, I walked out of the office. After a few minutes I went back in to try again. When I came back in. I asked him why my words were so unimportant that I had to raise my hand to try and get heard? And even then I got ignored. (He did not answer me) After the room calmed down, I asked him, “why do you think I left the room?” He said “because you don’t like criticism”. I put my head in my hands in disbelief. He couldn’t see that he was talking over me the whole time and I was having to raise my hand to get my own doctors attention. He could not understand that I did not feel heard. Dr Ramon Ferrer was not professional. I would never recommend this doctor.

I really like Dr Ferrer. He is caring, takes the time to speak with you and knows what he is talking about.
