Unique store with tons of fun goodies.  Staff is always kind and displays are very pretty.  I always see something I want to purchase here. Don't miss it!

I would love to give this local store a 5 star rating, but unfortunately I can not even give them a one star rating. (The system made me give them 1 star.) We have dealt with this local store in the past regarding re-painting furniture and other items that they specialize in.  We dealt directly with the owner, Mandy and Colby, and always had a good experience.  Unfortunately our experience this time was beyond bad, it was one of where you lose just a little more trust in your fellow human being!  Especially, trust in your local retailers, that are fighting to stay ahead of the big companies.

My wife and I went to the Deer Park location at today looking for a console to place in our living room.  We knew about the "Warehouse Sale" the store was having in Mont Belvieu yesterday (Saturday, October 28th ).  So we were under no assumption that the sale was still being held.  The lady at the Deer Park location, Tonya, told us there were some items that did not sale on Saturday, and that were still up for sale.  She very graciously showed my wife the items (via cell phone) that were still available.  my wife observed a table and 4 chairs and bench that she liked. The lady contacted the warehouse store in Mont Belview and checked to make sure that the table was still available.  She was told it was, that it had not sold.  

My wife and I told her that we wanted the table and chairs, and that we had to go home to obtain our trailer (Delivery had to be taken today) and would be headed to the store in Mont Belvieu.  She informed us that she would call and let them know we were coming to purchase the table.  Her exact words were , "I have a couple here that is 99.9 % sure they want the table and chairs."  No mention of no holds!

My wife was told upon arriving in mont belvieu, "Your the one from Deer Park with the table?  I'm sorry, it sold 10 minutes after she called us."  My wife was shown another table in the back that they were selling for $475.00.  The table was no where near the quality of the table we had originally been told we could have for $450 to $500. (Original table had chairs and a bench)  When they informed her that they did not like the table, the lady walked off.  

Colby's told my wife "We don't conduct business that way, for the warehouse sale, there are no holds."  Then stood there like he really did not care if they had come all the way from Deer Park under the assumption that they were holding the table and chairs.  Not once did he say, look around the store and maybe I can help you on another table, Nothing!  I guess when you expand to 2 different locations you forgot that customer service is a big part of your business.  

I personally, went back to the Deer Park store and asked Tonya, the salesperson that we had spoken to originally, and had placed the call to  Mont Belvieu.  Once again she was nothing but kind.  She apologized, and she even asked if we would like to look around and maybe she could help us with something.  That she couldn't give us the deal that was on the other table, but she might be able to help some.  Wow, Customer Service, and she's not even the owner, just a friend and employee of the owner.  

I apologize for the length of this review, but I believe it is important that when someone tells you something they hold to what they tell you!  I know we live in a society where trust and a person's word is not what it once was, but I still want to have faith that there are still honest small business people in the world.  Yes, they may not be the cheapest, but when they tell you something, or make a mistake (or miscommunication) they step up and at the very least attempt to make thing right!!!

What Alter'd Interiors did today is make it more difficult for other small town business to be trusted.  Because, word of mouth is the best advertisement one can have.  And that advertisement can be good or it can be bad!!!

Beautiful and unique furniture pieces for those of you who are into not so ordinary. I visited this week. I did not purchase anything because I am looking for very particular pieces. It is an excellent place for rustic, French country, shabby, and farm decor. They have a great chalk paint selection. They also host classes on how to transform your own furniture.
