What can I say? As a huge Revolutionary War buff since my childhood, this museum has been in my dreams to visit since before they opened. I already knew it was going to be something special before I visited. I just did not know how special. The collection of items on display are absolutely incredible, the displays and exhibits are stunning and I literally was like a little kid the first time I visited, I was so excited by everything I saw. The films were also excellent and informative, all of them. Definitely take the time to see the interactive one...they take you there with smells, breezes, lights, and rumbling seats!!! The liberty tree is really, really inspiring. The outdoor exhibit showing 18th century life, especially military life, is super cool! They have musket demonstrations, which are always a bonus with me. I bought an annual pass, as I live close by and plan to attend many times! The only complaint I have is that I have been to the gift shop twice and both times the cashier was rude as heck. I mean, super duper rude.

To be honest the family was a bit burnt out on history by the time we got here (having already done Jamestown and the Yorktown battlefield). We enjoyed the Jamestown Settlement Museum more than this one. That being said this is a very nice museum. It has both classic exhibits and a very nice recreation of a soldiers tent area and typical farm of the era outside. The re-en-actors were very knowledgeable and willing to spend time answering my son's questions. We only had a couple hours before the museum closed and we could have easily spent much longer than that here. Would recommend if you are big into the American Revolution; it is a very well done and interactive museum.

Such a great museum with quality exhibits and impressive technology. We've said we'd like to see the 4d movie again. It really helps you understand the significance of the battle at Yorktown and makes the actual battlefield come alive because you can place the names and even faces to particular spots.

This living history museum is a great stop during your visit to Tidewater's Historic Triangle. This museum tells the story of the Revolution through the eyes of ALL Americans who lived through those times. You are able to follow the stories of American Patriots, those loyal to the British Crown, enslaved Africans and Native Americans. Take your time walking through the museum and then enjoy more information as you tour the grounds.

Great visit! The museum was majorly updated recently and the efforts make for a great interactive tour both inside and out! Artillery demonstration was a blast! Highly recommend a family visit here. Huzzah!
