Dr. Angus is terrific. My Frenchie has so many allergies — food, grass, pollen —and now everything is under control. It isn’t inexpensive and my pet insurance doesn’t cover the treatment, but it’s worth the cost. Also the techs and receptionists are lovely.

I actually went in there a few months ago and didn't get around to writing a review, but I am now as a warning for other people. I first called the office and asked how much they charge for seeing the doctor and I was told a figure around $165. I specifically called ahead and asked because my dog had just gotten a $8,000 surgery and I didn't want to spend more than $200. When I the doctor saw my dog she said hmm, let me see if she has an ear infection. And carried on to do a test and then two more tests. She comes back and says that my dog does not have an ear infection, ring worm, fungus etc. She then proceeds to tell me that my bill is now almost $400. I was completely shocked because firstly I already knew my dog did not have any of those things because I had already taken her to my normal vet and they couldn't figure out what was wrong, thus me going to the dermatologist, secondly she did not tell me a head of time that what she was doing was an extra cost. Ever pet clinic, or any doctors I have ever gone to, always told me before doing a test that it cost additional money. And after looking at the receipt the initial "$165" didn't even cover anything. I was literally paying $165" for the vet to say hi to me. She then tells me that the test that will probably figure out what is wrong with my dog is an additional $400. Had I had that information in the first place I wouldn't have had her do any other tests and only do the last one. I left the place $400 short and received no help. This place is very unprofessional and seem more interested in money then actually helping your pet. That is my experience.

I don't hate this place, however, I felt hustled. First off there is a fee ($165) that is called the "initial examination fee". This is what you will pay when you walk in the door and before the actually examine your pet. While in the exam room with my pet they looked at the overall condition of his skin and focused on the problem area... where he had been licking his paws. I was then asked by the Doctor "was it ok if she pulled some hair and perform a scrape"? I am not a doctor and have no expertise in pet dermatology so I simply communicated that you do what you need to do so that we can figure out what is going on. As the doctor left with hair samples and a scrape sample a different employee came in and went over the "quote" and said "so far we have the initial fee of $165 and the cytology/skin scrape is 82.50. So your current invoice is 247.50 not including lab fees and taxes. I felt like I pulled into a jiffy lube expecting an oil change for the managers special but in the end they didn't have the right oil for my car. And when I asked what oil does my car take they say "well sir we'd have to run a test and that's $350". " What I thought the whole oil change is for 19.99? "No sir not for you... that's for a different type of car". As a business owner I understand processing fees and the cost of employees but I filled out everything online that, clerically speaking, was more than likely drag and dropped into a file with my name on it on their server. This probably took all of 60 seconds for any employee with knowledge of the system. The doctor then came back in the room to tell me that they think he has a fungus problem and that there are no guarantees but my 3 options are... A. Keep him on the same medication that worked. B. A CADI shot that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't but it's up to me whether I want to go that route. C. Get an allergy blood test done to specifically figure out what he is allergic to help his overall comfort. So in the end I left with no assurances that his condition would get any better unless I wanted to shell out over a $600 (which I did) dollars for a allergy test that may or may not work so that they could build a serum to help his body build up whatever it is that pets bodies build up that maybe might help elevate the problem but they're not sure if it will at all or for how long. They gave me the same prescriptions for his condition that his regular vet gave me two months previous and scheduled a visit to come back in 4 weeks to see if he's getting any better on medication that already made him better... for another initial examination fee of... your guess is as good as mine. I paid for everything they asked me to pay for but In the end I didn't received any new information that I didn't already have from the regular vet. Pet dermatology seems to be a big coin toss that costs a lot of money every time you flip the coin.

Had our first appt. with Dr. Angus, who I liked. Sparky likes his new food, Just Food For Dogs. I thought he was going to eat the bowl. Looking forward to the journey.
