Update: The owner of the store called me soon after posting this review and offered for me to come back and get my hair fixed at no additional cost. I went back to Belle and she touched up my bangs and cut my hair the way I had originally asked the first time I went in. My experience this time around was much better but I wish it hadn't been an issue in the first place since my past experiences have been so great. Hoping all future visits will be much better!

I have been going to this salon for 2 years now. JD was my first stylist, and she always cut my hair exactly how I asked (see pic with plaid shirt). I like side bangs, and she would cut them with a nice angle/swoop to make it a less dramatic look but still noticeable. Unfortunately, JD moved so I decided to book with another stylist, Belle (I believe that was her name). I have not had my hair cut in over a year, so it was very long. My side bangs had grown out completely and were the length of the rest of my hair. To make sure we were both on the same page, I showed her a picture of the side bang look I wanted (similar to the look in the plaid shirt pic) and she ended up just cutting off a huge chunk of the front of my hair (see pics with white shirt). I hate to complain but I really do not know how to fix this. It will take months to grow out to a point where they could be trimmed again. 

In addition to this issue, my appointment was booked for 5:15pm on 12/20 and I was done and walking out by 5:33pm. Belle said that she did not have time to dry my hair so I walked out with wet hair (so I obviously could not see the finished product of my hair until I got home and dried it myself). She put curling product in my hair because she told me she was going to curl it a little to give it some style but then she said she didn't have time to finish or dry it so now my hair is oily from product that never dried. Unfortunately, when I pulled my hair to the front to look at it once I got home, the left side was over an inch longer than the right side. I ended up having to trim the left side myself to get the layers even.

When I went to checkout once my appointment was over, Belle took $10 off of my charge for the wet hair inconvenience which was nice of her, but I still paid almost $40 for chopped bangs that cannot be fixed, an uneven cut, and wet hair (luckily I had no where to go after my appointment because I am not sure what I would have done in that scenario). I have never had my hair cut so fast before- my hair is (was) almost 2 feet long so whoever does my hair typically takes at least 45 minutes to cut and style/dry it. I LOVE this salon and I regret having to leave a bad review, but I am just very displeased with the service that I received today.  I wanted to personally email the owners so that this review would not be public, but I could not find any personal email addresses in which to contact them. I will be glad to come back and update my review if this issue can somehow be resolved.

This salon is far over-priced for the service. Years ago, I had a hair cut and eyebrow wax, and nearly choked when I saw the bill was almost $130 after tip.  The style was good, but I could never afford to do that regularly. I found a more reasonably priced stylist elsewhere and didn't return until she moved out of state. 

Recently, I had a baby and needed pampering pretty badly and decided to treat myself, so I went back to Arbor. The stylist alternated between being rude and trying to walk back obnoxious comments. (Me: "I just had a baby." Her: "Ugh. Why?.....haha, just kidding....)

I told her I wore my hair straight but was going out that night, so the stylist opted to curl it. Because it was curled, I couldn't yet tell that an entire section of my hair hadn't been cut at all. When I straighten my hair every day, a piece about one-inch wide hangs three inches lower than the rest. 

It is one of the more expensive salons in town, so I felt like for the price I paid, I should at least look like I went to a salon and not the cosmetology school to give the students practice for free.

(I don't want to get any stylist in trouble, so this is not the name I booked the appointments under.)

I go here for massages.  Molly is an excellent massage therapist.  She's very friendly and makes me feel comfortable and at ease.  And she always deals with my trouble spots well -- I feel better afterwards.  I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed!  Highly recommended.

I cannot recommend Ritchie enough!! I no longer live in Athens and was talking with a friend in my town who is also from the Athens area. We were talking about favorite places to get a massage and I mentioned my favorite place is Arbor Salon and Spa. She instantly asked me if I saw Ritchie and I said yes! We discovered we have the same favorite masseur, and although we no longer live in Athens we both try to get an appointment with Ritchie when we are in town. He is excellent in his profession, skilled, kind, professional, has a great personality, and works well with everyone. He helped me work through several injuries including rotator cuffs and a severely sprained ankle. He can do everything from relaxation to deep tissue, and is wonderful for dancers and athletes. My entire family works with him. He's fabulous and one of my all around favorite people! If you are looking for a massage, look no further. Call Arbor and make an appointment.

REVIEW UPDATE 12/23: Fabulous salon with an amazing front desk staff, all are extremely  educated on products that work for YOUR hair, over the phone they are always so helpful and I have never had a negative experience with anyone over the phone... MY BIGGEST JOY is seeing Joanna! She is an amazing stylist. I won't let anyone put color on my hair or cut it except Joanna, if she's unavailable I'll see an Arbor salon stylist... but Joanna is my #1 go to stylist. She is honest, she is more concerned with your hair's health and strength then what style or color/cut you desire. She tells the truth and I love that. Honesty. The color I desired was not realistic and would've damaged my hair further, however, I have LOVED my hair every time I've left. I've seen Joanna 3 times now and every time has been a wonderful experience. I went in and I wanted pale blonde hair, but my hair was VERY damaged and lightening it would've damaged it further... she told me no lightener, I was hesitant the first time, but when she finish I loved my hair! Every time I've had it done I love my hair more and more! It is brown, not blonde and I LOVE IT. I've been blonde my entire life and it's fun to switch it up. When my hair is healthy enough we will put a few highlights she said, I follow Joanna's advice and use products she says and my hair is a lot thicker than it was prior to seeing her, I love it! I love this salon, the owners are SO kind and caring. You just cannot go wrong here. 

Lastly, long story short... I've NEVER used box dye on my hair but did 12/22/17 and I looked like carrot top 3 days before Christmas... it was AWFUL. Called Arbor on 12/23/17 as soon as they opened and amazingly Joanna was able to see me. This close to Christmas I just knew that all the stylists would be booked... I was one lucky girl, after she finished the mess I made of my hair I was shocked. It looks great, I love it and couldn't believe she was able to fix it. The horrible mess I made of my hair with box dye lightener is Indescribable! When I looked in the mirror, I cried, I thought it was unfixable, I very was wrong! Joanna did and amazing job again and if it was not for her Christmas wouldn't have been very Merry! If I had before and after photos I would post them. My hair looked AWFUL! It was orange, white, brown, maroon, very brassy and my roots were bleached white. It was shocking to say the least when Joanna finished and my hair was one color, I couldn't believe it. I looked normal again and I walked out feeling very confident, prior to seeing her I felt like a clown 🤡!  Wouldn't got out of the house without a hat on. I want to thank Joanna and would love for anyone reading this review to know you can't go wrong if you go to Arbor. The entire staff is so enjoyable! I ❤️ Arbor Salon, will not go anywhere else to have my hair done. Stylists are phenomenal! Joanna ALWAYS treats my hair like a work of art. I thought I wanted long blonde hair, not anymore.... I ❤️  it short and dark. Arbor is AMAZING!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Go experience Arbor for yourself. Treat your self... your hair will be given lots of LOVE! See Joanna she will take care of you! Thank you Joanna! You're the best stylist I've seen in years! Prior to Joanna, I saw 2 other stylists at Arbor about two years ago and again walked out extremely happy. See you soon Joanna, again thank you for the best Christmas gift ever! GO TO ARBOR! Don't hesitate, you will not be disappointed... promise!
