I had a checking account with $1,000 that was opened through a program with another company. I didn't need to use the money right away and couldn't withdraw all of it and close the account without incurring fees due to it being a new account. Well even though the phone rep said there wouldn't be any administrative fees or minimum balance fees, apparently the account went inactive after a month. When I checked on it 8 months later to close the account I found that there were $80.00 in inactivity fees that I wouldn't be able to reverse. Never using AFB again. Also not using Academy Bank (their sister bank) since they sent me to a branch location in person in this debacle and they weren't able to do anything either.

In all fairness, this is a review of their phone/internet banking services, not this specific branch. For comparison, my experience is from USAA which certainly isn't perfect, but has been far better..

EDIT: I followed up with a BBB complaint as well. Their corporate customer service followed up within the week and resolved the issue relatively quickly. Still frustrating that I had to go through all of that but good enough to bump up their star rating.

I have never had so many problems with a bank before. There are always hidden fees & im constantly on the phone asking for exclamations on why they taking more money. Switching asap

This branch for Armed Forces bank isn't anything to be desired. The branch is not very user-friendly and all of their systems are completely out dated.  We constantly have issues with the website, mobile site is not user friendly and their App is atrocious. We use this bank for our FRG account and we constantly have issues when we try to update users for our account. I would recommend setting up your services up with a bank like Navy Federal or USAA if you are a service member.
