Story

It all started when Martha Couture housewife and mother of three decided she did not want to fall prey to "empty nest syndrome." So as her oldest headed off to college she took up jewelry making as a hobby. Her nightly tapping in the basement resulted in a fine collection of hand made sterling silver jewelry. People began to take notice, then came the weekend craft shows and so the journey began...from hobby to top retailer of American craft.

Martha, with the help of her husband Jim Couture a builder, set up shop in 1980 originally known as "The Silver Sun". What began as a small enterprise in her basement grew into a thriving business. Soon the idea of adding the creativity of other craftsmen to her collection took hold of her heart. With the help of Martha's daughters Cynthia and Diane the business grew and flourished into what is well known in the area as "Artisan's Marketplace". Cynthia holds a degree in Fine Arts while Diane brings 19 years of corporate retail experience to the business.
