Our cat suddenly stopped eating and became very lethargic. Multiple trips to the vet lead to blood tests that determined he had severe anemia and had to be admitted to AMC animal hospital in Manhattan for an immediate blood transfusion. Unfortunately the transfusions only provided temporary relief and multiple biopsies were coming out negative. He would almost appear to be his normal self afterwards but not quite. His behavior was still off (Was falling asleep inside his litter box and would have to rest just to gather the strength to walk a few paces. Could no longer jump). On the third day after his last transfusion he just didn't have any fight left in him. Once we got the follow up blood tests back, they confirmed our worst fears and we had to make a very difficult decision to have him Euthanized before his condition deteriorated ever more. He had lost a lot of weight and it was already very hard for me to watch him like this. We started to look at options and are so glad that this can be done in the comfort of the pets own home. Talked to a few people but many of them were very clinical and almost too 'professional' in their mannerisms and general attitude toward their work. They've obviously been doing this for awhile but I think that experience has probably made a lot of them somewhat desensitized. That's not the kind of person we wanted to perform this procedure and, after some more searching and reading reviews, we got in touch with Doctor Leshanski through her assistant, Emily, who was so attentive and kind over the phone. Later I was able to speak to Doctor Leshanski himself who was just as kind and caring. There was a very clear difference in tone between these two people versus the others I contacted before them. I mentioned this to Emily who told me that they prefer to have an 'old country family doctor' approach even though they were in the city and I liked that. We decided that we found the right person and immediately scheduled an appointment the next morning on short notice. The next day was obviously a very difficult one as many reading this review are probably facing right now but I can assure you, that Mr. Leshanski was nothing but kind, understanding and, most of all, very patient through the whole process. He does not like to rush through it and prefers to go at your own pace. He was also very kind toward our cat and you can really get a sense that both him and Emily really do care a great deal about these animals. I petted our cat (Icha) until his last breath. Said my goodbyes and then allowed the doctor to do his work. He was absolutely ok with my request that he be cremated with his blanket and favorite teddy bear, assured me that he would treat him as if he was his own and I believed him. Shortly after receiving back his ashes, we got a thoughtful hand written card from them expressing their condolences. I cannot recommend Dr. Leshanski and Emily highly enough if you are now faced with this difficult task. It will be some time before I can accept another pet but he will definitely be my first choice for in home checkups whenever I do decide to take in another one. Would be nice to talk to and meet both of them again under better circumstances. R.I.P. Icha. You will be missed and never forgotten.

We lost our dear pal Barney after 12 wonderful years last week. He was a beach-loving, rabbit-fearing basset hound who had led quite a life. He went downhill very, very fast. From a happy romp in the park that morning, to full downhill by evening. Dr. Leshanski was so kind. He came over and allowed us to stay with Barney so that he was with us in the end. Barney was comfortable, in his home, with a kind doctor and family surrounding him to tell him goodbye. This sweet, silly dog was our buddy. Our family member. And I could not have asked for a better goodbye. He would have been in pain and scared if I had tried to move him to an emergency vet. I truly offer a heartfelt thank you to Dr Leshanski for being there and for being so kind. Thank you thank you thank you. I certainly sleep better knowing it was an easier crossing of the rainbow for Barney. Erin Borge

Dr. Leshanski is honestly the kindest Vet I have ever met. I am sometimes a nervous parent when it comes to my dog and anytime I call him he always answers and puts me at ease. I count myself and my dogs very fortunate to have come across such a caring professional.

Wonderful, caring, supportive vet. Came to help my friend say goodbye to her very sick cat, was thoughtful and sensitive and professional and kind. Really flexible dealing with last minute scheduling changes. He explained everything, and gave everyone time to say goodbye. Poor little cat left peacefully due to Dr. Leshanski's kind, calm approach. Thank you so much Dr. Leshanski.

My dog has been suffering recently from a stomach bug and after contacting local vets in my area and being unsuccessful in booking a quick appointment, I found Dr. Leshanski's website and couldn't have been happier! He was so incredibly helpful and i couldn't believe he would make an appointment for Sunday at 6. He really made us feel at ease and was so kind and loving with our dogs. He never made us feel silly for the million questions we asked and always responded so politely and intelligently. You can really tell that he cares about his work and your pets as if they were his own! I honestly couldn't have asked for more from a vet and look forward to our visits in the future!
