This would be the second phase of my rehabiliation process (see my review on ATI East Milwaukee, on N Farwell Rd), the work hardening program. As with ATI East Milwaukee, ATI Greenfield's work hardening program was chosen both for cost effectiveness and their success rate in returning injured workers to work, while also teaching them how to not re-injure themselves. The work hardening program is designed to assist those who were injured and became unable to work for a long period to gradually build up a tolerance for the work they do, and often times they will surpass the requirements of the jobs they perform. Your first day is often a short one, mainly a meet and greet to discuss what your specific goals are, the kind of work you do, and so on. Then, Jim explains the nature of the work hardening program to you, what you should expect from it, and whay he will expect from you. You will do some exercise that first day (usually a Tuesday, from what he told me), so you should dress accordingly. From then on, you are scheduled to arrive every weekday at your scheduled time (between 7:30 am and 8:30 am, so everybody doesn't get stacked up in line waiting for a particular piece of equipment), and you can expect t work on your rehabilitation plan for the next 4-5 hours, with a couple of brief breaks built in. Each day, you sign in, and then grab a clipboard with a sheet that you check off that outlines your exercise "work" routine for that day, and a countdown timer you will hear in your sleep for a few weeks after you complete the program. The typical day starts with cardio and warm-up stretching, and then moves into customized exercise routines that are geared towards each person's specific job descriptions. You are expected to progress each day, with weight, repititions, and sets being increased from one day to the next. As your capabilities increase, the exercises become more creative, and specific to what you may be expected to do on your job. In some cases (such as with me), you may be allowed to progress through certain exercises more rapidly, if you find some of them a bit too easy. The entire atmosphere of the facility is similar to what I expect would be a typical work environment for those who work indoors and do manual labor. Things start out seeming fairly quiet initially, but as the day progresses the facility becomes a bustle of activity, similar to a typical workplace. There will even be the smell of fresh coffee brewing in the small break area, lol. Regular physical therapy patients arrive to add to the hustle of the place, and you will rarely find someone just "hanging out," aside from those waiting in the main entrance area for someone in the work hardening or physical therapy programs. The length of the program varies, depending on individual need, and how well you progress. You are expected to show up each and every weekday, regardless of how you feel. If you are having physical issues, Jim wants to see them first hand, so he can come up with a way to work around them. If you are unable to go in one day because of physical issues, you will be required to see your primary physician before you can resume the program, just like in the workplace. Also like a workplace, if you are absent too often, or simply fail to call when you will be absent, you will be dropped from the program. If you are serious about returning to work, and you have been out of work for an extended time due to injury or illness, this program will definitely help you to achieve that goal. They accept most insurance, Wisconsin DVR clients, and private-pay, from what I could tell. Like the East Milwaukee location, they will go to bat for you with your insurance company, to make sure you aren't short-changed by their bean counters, in order to successfully return to work without the possibility of re-injuring yourself.

I felt like it was like a factory. For ati its how many people they can get in there. Not about the care of the patient. They hurt me twice do to the fact to many patients to the staff
