Tasty soups, especially the New England clam chowder!
Overall not bad. A few minor things ... the oj in the to go area that is "made fresh daily" was fermented and the bathrooms were closed. With COVID washing prior to eating is kind of a big deal... Sandwich made to order was great though.
This place is so dirty and disorganized
It is 1:30 PM and the restaurant staff is just sitting around when their trash bins are full. It only takes one minute to replace it. The bathroom is blocked, why? If you are going to block the bathroom, you might as well close the restaurant. Not very smiling crew!
I was enjoyed my trip to this store until today... Maybe they change the store manager because, I see only 2 clients in the salon. We ask for "Palmeras" the employee said we don't do it anymore, then they are running out of the coffee: 4 thermos and only 2 on the counter and 1 of them empty so other client ask for we wait almost 10 minutes for the coffee and they don't have raw sugar either let me tell you the counter was clean and organized. No RUSH at all Only 2 new clients in the store. The store needs cleaning: the walls, floor with papers and food and the womens bathroom was super dirty at 11:30am. I don't know what happened. They have an excellent spot, this is sad I don't see any supervision or motivation to work with the employees.
As a store manager of another retail establishment, I know what it is like to be yelled at after making an honest mistake - it's not a good feeling. Went there once and waited in line. The cashier was helping a customer that was in front of me and the customer asked for an empty cup for water. The cashier accidently gave the customer a large cup that was meant for soda. The manager came out of the back room yelling at the associate. I felt so bad that the cashier made an honest mistake and was reprimanded in front of other customers. That was the last time I could ever feel moral about going into this restaurant. I wonder if all Au Bon Pain locations treat their workers the same?
My daughter ordered a half wrap and cup of soup. The girl who took the order was rude and after 10 minutes, my daughter STILL didn't have her wrap. Apparently, the girl had decided she wasn't going to make it. My daughter got a cookie for waiting and being treated so rudely. The food was all right.
Sadly we've tried going twice in the past couple weeks and they've been closed before 6:00 both times.
Every time I go in there it's mass chaos. There's no clear place to stand until you see all the signs once you are upfront to order. Then you end up in the wrong line, The staff is less than helpful and always act annoyed that you can't figure out where you need to be. I'm not the only person that felt this way. Everyone in line was easily frustrated and relieved to be leaving. A whole group of girls behind me in line went to California Pizza kitchen after deciding that it was easier to wait 45 mins there then ordering Au Bon Pain. That should tell you something about the restaurant. The food wasn't bad. I would like to suggest that you move your utensils from on top of the trash can. As an obvious disgusting thing to have clean utensils on something so dirty; it also forces people to wait in line to get utensils while people are throwing away their trash and vice versa. Doesn't make sense at all. I have given this over priced panera bread knock off a chance twice now and after spending close to $50 on soup and sandwiches for my family there will be no next time for Au Bon Pain in the ass.
We have been here many times and we love it so much! :-
