Audra State Park

Story

Audra State Park is a West Virginia state park located on 355acre in southwestern Barbour County. It was established around the remnants of an early 19th-century gristmill and the tiny community of Audra. A gristmill spillway is still visible in the river. The park is a hilly, secondary forest area bisected by the Middle Fork River. The deep pools, large, flat rocks, and riverside beach have provided generations of campers, local teens and college students a place to swim or work on their tans. Audra State Park is the site of Alum Cave, which is accessible by a boardwalk built along this overhanging sandstone ledge. The park serves as the put-in point for a 6.6 mile kayak run along about 2.8 miles the Middle Fork River and about 3.8 miles of the Tygart Valley River to the confluence of the latter with the Buckhannon River.Features 67 camp sites Swimming in the Middle Fork River Hiking trails Kayaking in the Middle Fork River Picnic areaAccessibilityAccessibility for the disabled was assessed by West Virginia University. The assessment found the campground, picnic area, and park offices to be accessible. The main swimming hole (just below the site of the former gristmill), with wet, slippery rocks and unpaved approaches is not considered accessible.

Very beautiful Park... stayed The weekend in the campground there very wooded Campground we had a 29 foot RV and out of 67 spots there was only 4 that we could truly fit our RV into... it is truly a fabulous tent camping Campground... it is first come first serve and we arrived around 2 on Friday and there was only one site left that we could fit into... I would highly recommend this for tent campers or pop up campers

We had a great time. It's a beautiful area. It's a small campground, just one loop with sites on either side. We didn't get there early enough to get a river site, but the site we ended up on was nice. The handicapped sites were easily accessible. There are also a few electric sites. The road is paved so it was great for bike riding. The whole campground was clean and well kept. They have a little store, like most campgrounds with the basics. About what you'd expect price wise, big box store brand items marked up in price. We will definitely be camping here again.

Great place to swim and picnic. There is a walking trail that is fun but needs some upgrades. There is no longer a swim house to change clothes. So wear your suit under your clothes. Fun swimming for all ages. Nice beach area lots of rocks to climb around.

Although a small state park, it packs a ton of adventure. The tent camping sites are all beautiful and secluded, many with river access. The real fun at Audra is had at the various swimming holes along the river. Sites are first come first serve so plan accordingly!

I've been visiting this state party since I was a child. Absolutely beautiful scenery. River runs through the park. Hiking and camping amenities. Family oriented. Pets allowed. Would recommend to anyone.
