If you're into supporting local businesses that have large impacts on their communities, you'll definitely want to be a patron of Avid Bookshop. They know me by name & always are willing to order and find books for me. My roommate & I chose our apartment location based on our ability to walk quickly to both of the shops in Athens. Check out their website for more info on their events that are held weekly. Avid partners with so many community organizations in Athens to assist in amplifying message, as well as hosting joint events. They have several book clubs to participate in, as well.

This cute little bookstore was a heart warming welcome for my first visit to Athens! Staff is super friendly and went out of their way to help me find anything I might need, and gave me some recommendations of places to go in the area (I tried the hot chocolate at Condor Chocolates that night and it was terrific!) The selection is smaller but well organized, and you can tell they intentionally choose high quality books to keep on their shelves. Lots of lovely updated editions on older books as well!

What a great bookshop! It's a small space, but their selections are spot on, and they can have orders delivered much quicker than you might expect. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable; their recommendations on the shelves are what really set this place apart.

Hands down, best bookstore(s) in town. Amazing, handpicked selection...Knowledgeable staff...Fantastic events...and a genuine, informed drive to build community.

Can NOT say enough good things about this Amazing store. Staff that is friendly and knowledgeable! Great book clubs! Kid friendly atmosphere (complete with reading nook)! A bespoke book subscription service! A second great location elsewhere in Athens!! So much excellence, you may never buy books on-line again (but if you prefer it, they also have a great website+ home delivery)!
