Story

Back Bay Café, where ALL the locals come for coffee, breakfast and lunch, and our popular Monday "Beer at the Pier" concerts. Guests of The Back Bay Inn get a meal as part of their stay. It's become quite the "watering hole" over the last couple of years, the community center of Baywood Park, promoting the friendly, inclusive nature of one of the most beautiful, untarnished hamlets along Coastal California

My husband enjoy breakfast here when we stay at The Back Bay Inn. Several tasty choices. Local coffee and organic tea. Baked goods, yogurt, breakfast burritos, scrambled eggs with ham or bacon and toast, etc. Simple menu but enough choices. Delicious. We love eating in the enclosed patio looking out to the back bay. Our little dog is happy that it's dog friendly!

Very nice little cafe by the bay. Had a tasty breakfast burrito with cheddar and bacon, and a smooth Americano. Very chill afternoon, listening to the waves in the bay. Highly recommended.

The food here was ok, not worth waiting in line though. We ordered breakfast (egg scramble) and it came out cold. The person taking orders said it would be about 20 minutes, however we ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for our food. When it did finally come out, some of us got our food and others had to wait longer, even though we had ordered similar items right after each other.

This is one of my favorite places in the whole county. There's nothing exceptionally spectacular about the place, but it has the right combination of consistently good coffee, reliably tasty food, friendly staff, a relaxed setting, and a lovely view all wrapped up in a local-hidden-treasure package. It sits just a small parking lot away from the Morro Bay estuary with its small beach, which can be a great place for sitting and enjoying the view, letting the kids play, or giving dogs a chance to run, especially when the tide is in (the tide out transforms the estuary into expansive mud flats). I've seen individuals enjoying a good read, guests with dogs, couples and friends, and families with kids of all ages. My only complaint comes from their loose and early closing hours: You need to get there before 2:30 p.m. most days if you're not planning on staying or ordering food. But it still is one of my favorite places.
