Story

Eat. Drink. Be Happy. What does it take to be a regular at Bar Louie St. Charles? An enjoyment of the craft and the desire to experience something out of the ordinary. From our Chicago roots, we've always known that having a comfortable place to hang out, get great drinks, scratch food, awesome music, and the best service was something special. We create every Bar Louie with all of that in mind. It might not seem like an easy task, but we want to make sure you have a great time, any time you decide to come in. We could make it easier on ourselves, but we live for the quality and uniqueness of what we create. From our handcrafted everything bar, to our scratch everything kitchen, it's in our DNA to be the best. We're at our best when you're having a great time. It may not be normal and it certainly isn't ordinary, but we believe you deserve more than ordinary. If you're not a regular yet... You will be.

A friend and I came here on a Tuesday night around 8pm and sat at the bar to celebrate a late Christmas. There were three bartenders that we could see, and it took more than 10 minutes for them to approach us. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and once the drinks and appetizer were delivered we did not see anyone until about 20 minutes after we had finished our appetizer and our drinks were empty. Finally one of the bartenders (not our original bartender) asked if we needed more drinks. We ordered more drinks and also our entrees finally. Twenty minutes after we ordered our entrees a girl came up to me and said "oh, we don't have enough mac and cheese for your entree" and she was giggling... she said "I told this other girl who tried to order it a while ago and I just couldn't figure out who else I needed to tell." So I finally ordered something else and it came 10 minutes later and my friend's food was cold because it had to wait for them to make my new entree order. Overall it was a horrible experience for a late night bar that wasn't busy. I usually like coming here (except that there is no hostess sometimes when it's really crowded so you have to stalk tables until they leave), but this was my friend's first time and let's just say this experience will not convince her to visit this establishment again.

I have been here a few times at different times of the day, mostly for happy hour and dinner. They have a nice array of dishes to choose from so it is pretty easy to find something that everyone wants, and the happy hour specials are pretty good. The best experience that we have had there happened recently when we were trying to go to brunch in the area. The place we had intended to go was very crowed and there was a bit of a wait. We saw that Bar Louie was open and had a brunch menu so we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed, the food was very good and the Ultimate Bloody Mary was very tasty.

Must have had the "B" team for lunch today. We eat here often and have never had an issue. We were greeted by the bar tender when we came in, sat ourselves as usual. The restaurant had maybe 10 tables, no large groups. We waited 12 minutes before walking out because we were never approached by a server or anyone for that matter. On a lunch break time is of the essence. We went to Firebird down the street and the place was packed with excellent service. We like Louie, we will go back but hopefully they get it figured out.

Nice atmosphere, very clean, lively, great location! Service is good, not over the top incredible, but good! Had the shrimp appetizer, delicious sauces, verrrry good! Will be trying the Ahi Tuna also! So far, really great. Will definitely return!!

I have ate here several times and the food is delishious. My fav so far has been the Buffalo chicken flat bread, just enough kick and damn good - just as the menu says. Lots of energy here.
