i had the misfortune of being his patient for over a years time as a suboxone recipient. dr barclay is nothing but a licensed drug dealer, and treats his patients in the same fashion: addicts to be manipulated and provide for his lavish lifestyle. he has no regard for a patients personal life and even less regard for their financial situation. he is fully aware of an opiate addicts constant struggle and uses his position as a provider of relief in a way to quite literally abuse, belittle, manipulate and control them. its quite disgusting that nothing but a low level street dealer is masquerading as a medical professional with no conscience or regard for the well-being of the patient. he lords the fact that the medicine he is licensed to prescribe is the only relief an opiate addict can obtain in hopes of living a normal lifestyle and exhibits his disregard for a patient's personal life while making it utterly clear that everything involving continuing to receive said treatment will only be accomplished by means he deems convenient enough for his schedule. the man doesnt do anything to ensure a patients efficacy. only 1 initial office visit and the rest are conducted on the phone. he doesnt drug test, and starts a patient at a ridiculously high dose. the reason for this is because if he drug tested he may be inclined to prematurely cut patients from treatment, allowing a patient to simply collect their medicine, continue to use street drugs if they desire and sell whatever they dont use on the street also. in this manner he keeps patients, thus securing income and then he continues to sell more medicine. if he drug tested and booted people from the program he would risk greatly reducing his patient roster and thereby reduce his income. a result im certain he wouldnt tolerate. moreover, he starts a patient at a ridiculously high dose to further increase an addicts tolerance and thereby secure a longer running relationship with a patient since a highe dose is now necersarry to get high and to achieve relielf. literally starts everyone at 24 mgs or 3 tablets or 3 strips of suboxone. this is an absurd dose, a single dose is more than enough for the highest level of opiate abusers to experience withdrawal relief. in most cases 4mg or half of one tablet or strip is more than enough for an average iv heroin addict (myself included) to experience relief from the worst of symptoms. i will say that he does provide a list of books to read, and even quizzes a patient on the content, he also encourages a patient to seek professional counseling and requires that the therapist communicate with him to help modify a treatment plan at a team level. 2 of his best characteristics. however, on a phone appointment day a payment is required before 9 am. at which point he will call you whenever he feels like, regardless of your work schedule, if you have a court hearing, if you're going to war etc. he already has your $, so urgency doesnt exist at any level on his end. and if you miss his unscheduled , prepaid phone call: you are undeniably screwed. i can only guess he has a medical condition that prevents him from impromptu phone calls, or maybe a form of ocd that require a certain ritual be exercised prior to him using the phone like a normal person. literally having missed his call by 2 or 3 minutes on a few occassions yielded varying results: a full day or 2 until he was able to actually talk to me and yeah, if he hadnt ridiculously over prescribed id have been out of medicine and surely back to hunting on the street. and perhaps just maybe he will try to call again later. no telling when-incapable of providing any form of time window to be dilligently standing by for his call. his behest, no matter what, always and thats all. like i said he already has your money and doesnt care about anything else. if you dont read one the books he requires, he will devolve into utterly unprofessional, degrading the patients exerted effort, threats to remove from the program and taking a negative approach rather than
