"The night before" I brought Ceasar The Tortoise to the Bay Area Bird Hospital."After Ceasar finished eating he flipped over the feeding tray falling a few inches, landing on his back. He threw up but still had food lodged in his neck. He seemed all right but in the morning he was gasping now and then I called several veterinariansThe only hospital in my area that treated reptiles was the Bay Area Bird Hospital. This hospital prescribes&administers it's prescriptions.I made an appointment that morning. When I arrived, an old white haired man, arrived at the same time, with tears in his eyes, the man stated that his bird didn't make it. The receptionists, Kyla & Rachel chimed in, without blinking, how had he planned to bury his bird. This hospital offers cremation service. appt was at 10:30am. I arrived 10:15am. Dr. Dustin arrive11: 45 am.I told Dr. Dustin Ceasar had food lodged in his throat. She told me because he had a fall and flipped over his stomach may have exploded. an operation removing his lower flap would be required in order to remove the food. Dr. Dustin told me the chances of death after the operation were great. Dr. Dustin quoted a price of $1,000.00. She advised we begin with ex-rays. I was quoted a price of $231.00. I agreed. Ceasar's throat was not examined. This is a simple procedure for reptilian vets.Dr. Dustin disappeared with Ceasar. When she returned, she told me the stomach had not exploded. Then she said she wanted to examine Ceasar's throat. She should have done this first! Dr. Dustin disappeared with the tortoise &rushed back, flushed. She told me she couldn't get his head out. When in fact, his head was popping in and out before she took with him.She showed a generic ex-ray from an iPad, a picture of a tortoise much larger than mine. There clearly was no ex-ray of a throat. I asked for copies of MY tortoise's ex-rays. I asked multiple times. The Bay Area Bird Hospital didn't release the ex-rays they claimed they took, stating they didn't have my right contact information. Even after filing a claim they still have not released the ex-rays allegedly taken. Ceasar was injected with expired medicine and nebulized with nebula made for dogs. I didn't discover the medicine was expired or the nebula was for dogs until I got home. The staff was intimidating. I felt threatened.I have positive proof the Bay Area Bird Hospital injected expired medicine and prescribed expired medicine. have pic of the bottle's label.Bay Area Bird Hospital refuses to release ex-rays after multiple requests.I have positive proof the Bay Area Bird Hospital has correct email before and after&home address.Bay Area Bird Hospital doesn't disclose all charges upfrontWhengiv with the final charges, this hospital refused to release prescribed medicines until full payment was received. The bill presented was $896.00. When I asked if I could make arrangements, they stood on policy, NO! Leaving my animal with uncertainties.4When I asked if I could purchase the medicines and other items from a pharmacy, in order to save money. Dr. Dustin said, "If you think you can find something right away." Then Dr. Dustin proceeded to tell me what medicines my tortoise didn't need!5When I told her that she should have disclosed all the costs upfront. She said, "I should have asked questions." I told her I was in an emotional state when she quoted costs and that my mind wasn't putting it all together. Her response, "her other patients asked these questions." ultimately making me feel stupid. Rachel said, "she's trying to beat the bill." I was not !!Cesar nearly died from the medication. I discontinued all medicines and treated Ceasar with home remedies consisting of warmth, sunshine, checking his throat for particles, soaking him in warm water, which he drank lots of love. Ceasar survived.I paid 896.00 the day he was examined. I'm reporting the wrongs. I hope you will do the same.In closing, I don't believe other patients asked, The Bay Area Bird Hospital's Staff or Dr. Dustin, "in Case Of Death,Do You Offer Cremation Service?" answer YES !!

While the elderly DVM, did examine my bird with her intern for $65.00, the big sell came afterwards for $300 &500- for blood and sinus testing. She's a business battleaxe. No doubt by this time she's experienced, but her people skills are selective-at best.
