Had the worst meal EVER!! Crabcakes that was just oily brown breadcrumbs. The crostini with bruschetta arrived looking like beached whales. Thick slices of bread with awful topping - it tasted like thousand island dressing..my friend ordered the sirloin 'steak' with onions and mushrooms...what arrived was an abomination - a burnt hamburger patty...the onions and mushrooms were burnt and inedible. My Caesar salad was disgusting..tasted like fridge and we took everything in doggy bags to put out for the crows and critters. I don't think even they will eat it. The place is really sweet, but the food sucks!! What a terrible experience...with wine and tip it was $50 down the tubes. The waitress was sweet, but did not even take anything off the check. I have called several times..the owner is never there.

NOTE: Bars in Pennsylvania still allow smoking, as of summer 2008. After you've lived in smoke-free states and provinces, it's quite disgusting to be served food in a place where other people--maybe even the waiters, the cook, and the bartender--are smoking indoors. I hope Pennsylvania moves into the 21st Century soon. The Beach Lake Inn is attractive inside and out. Good ambience, good decor, professionally dressed staff. The bar menu is good as well. I had a dozen steamers for $6.95, while my wife had onion rings for $3.95. The food was good, and a good value. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. Although the bar allows smoking, the ceilings are high, and there's little smoke at table level. However, as we finished our beers and were considering ordering another round, a couple came in with lit cigarettes and sat next to our table, enveloping us with smoke, so we hit the road. We'll definitely go back again from time to time...but if the bar ever went smoke-free, we'd probably become regulars!

Three words. Don't eat here!! By far the worst food I have ever had. We went as a party of 6 not one of us ordered dinner the appetizers were so bad we were afraid. Better off stopping at McDonald's a couple of miles away. Only reason I gave it a star is because I can't submit this warning without it.
