Bear Country USA is great, one of the best stops on our visit to the Black Hills! We got far more than we expected on the two and one half mile drive through through the park where we saw many different of large animals including bears, antelope, reindeer, mountain goats and many more in their natural habitat. At the end of the drive we walked around the area where the small animals are kept. The park is super clean and animals are all well kept. Priced at $30 per car it is a great value for families and fun for ALL ages!

A must see if in the area. There are 2 parts to it. You start with a drive thru zoo, seeing many healthy looking types of animals. Then you have a walk around zoo. Very knowledgeable staff. Very clean areas and animals all looked well taken care of.

So glad we did this. I thought it was amazing. Seeing the bears walk around the vehicle is a unique experience. The truck ahead of us had a bear standing against it. Park is not responsible for property damage. The walking part and gift shop were good too.

Fun place, bears out in open with other animals, no fences keeping them back so they come up to your car.

Price could be better, 1 car but they charge $17 per person...

Despite the cost, still recommend as a stop for family's.

This was the worst experience we had on our vacation.  They put way too many bears in a small enclosure.  All species are mixed together unnaturally.  They take the cubs away from the mothers at an early age which was SO depressing for us to learn.  This is what their website says:

Bear Country U.S.A. takes the babies from their mothers for three simple reasons: survival rate, manageability and marketability.

...By human-imprinting the animals shortly after birth (2 months) we are able to manage them as adults making vaccinating and moving them much easier and safer. Lastly, we have earned a strong reputation among zoos, wildlife parks and even movie studios for even-tempered, manageable animals.”

If you love animals at all, stay far away from this place.  Bears deserve to live out their lives peacefully and in a natural environment.  Too many bears means this place needs to spay and neuter their animals.  It's a money making operation and not one that puts animals first.  When you see bears pacing and trying to escape, you know it is not a happy place.  Those poor cubs, you can just see the fear and sadness in their eyes.
