Storybook Island is "Where Magic Happens" We have been open since 1959

Story

Storybook Island is an 8 1/2 acre children's park. The park offers over 100 storybook and fairytale sets that kids love and parents adore! It's a place that children can use their imaginations, see a live theatre production, take a ride on Storybook Island Line through Middle Park. The park is 57 years old and truly one of the great treasures of Rapid City. It is a place where magic happens.

Visited Storybook Island for the awesome Christmas light display they have every Christmas season. Throughout the summer months, they offer a great place to take you children and grandchildren to see a display of storybook characters. Across from Storybook Island is a city park sheer you could enjoy a picnic lunch and the city swimming pools are also located here. Along with this there are bike paths.

Free but donations are strongly encouraged. No outside water bottles are allowed because they want you to purchase their overpriced drinks. However, my young children really enjoyed this park. Would definitely visit again if we travelled to this area

Another Rapid City classic. TONS of inexpensive fun for kids of all ages. Donation requested. More fun if you've been to the one at Aberdeen too.

Very good fun park for the kids. We always enjoy going here. All the different themed playgrounds are awesome. Brings out the kid in me.

If you have young children, this is a great place to take them. It is worth finding this gem. Admittance is free, although they do take donations. Check the weather before hand as this is basically all outdoors walking trail. Bring a good camera. Takes an hour or two to get through it. Lots to see.
