On Sunday, January 14 2018 I had the worst experience SWB (shopping while black) at the Beauty Max store located at 896 Largo Center Drive, in Largo, MD. After an afternoon of running errands, I decided to make one last stop at Beauty Max before going home. As I approached the store, I noticed the employees were staring at me strangely. The store was scheduled to close in less than 25 mins. I thought they may have been annoyed that I was coming right before closing. That didn't stop me from going in anyway. As I entered the store, I greeted the employees and then proceeded to shop. I went to the aisle to grab what I came for. I immediately noticed that one of the male employees left the front of the store to come post up where I was at and was watching me. I noticed every time I would make a move, said employee was looming over my shoulder or pretending he was looking for an item in whatever aisle I was in. So...I finally got fed up with him following me and I put ALL the items I had every intention of PURCHASING back in their respective aisles. Low and behold, this employee was trailing behind me in every aisle. So after I put the last item back, i decided to go to one last aisle just to see if he would follow me. I could not believe it...he was right there acting like he was looking for an item. So I asked him “Are you following me?” He replied “Yes, I am. You look suspicious. You look like a girl on camera that stole a precious wig from here.” Trying my best to keep my composure, I asked him how did I look like the girl and to show me the picture of this alleged thief. He told me “No, because that is personal.” So after I read him for filth and told him that what he did was wrong and probably illegal, I asked to speak to his manager. He wouldn’t go get the manager and told me “You go walk back there and get him.” So..I did just that. I explained to the manager what happened  and how his employee’s behavior caused them to lose a customer. The manager apologized and said he would speak to the employee about it.  We walked to the front of the store together so he could address the employee. He spoke in a language I couldn't understand so I don't know what he actually said to the employee. However, I was not satisfied with how the situation was handled. I then asked for the store’s information, their names and the owner’s name. The manager would not give his or the employee’s name.He only  gave me the store owner’s  name, Ann. No additional contact info was provided for the store owner. So...needless to say...I will no longer patronize Beauty Max located at 896 Largo Center Drive Largo, MD 20774.  If you decide to patronize them, please please please be careful. �

P.S.  Ann, if you are reading this, I strongly urge you to get your staff trained on appropriate loss prevention or theft deterrent measures without racially profiling customers.

Has a large selection of most beauty products. Purchase new shades of lipstick and was very satisfied.
