My mom was assaulted in the store by a male Belk's employee. She was returning a sweater that she never wore (with the tags on it) stating that it looks like it would snag on her clothes. The employee then grabbed my mother by her wrists, turned them up and said "This is why right here" while looking at her wrist jewelry and watch. My mom didn't know how to react and quickly left the store. She called me, crying after she ran a red light because she was so out of it after that experience. I told her to go back to the store and we would call LE because this was assault. Conveniently, the employee was gone after she got back and called the police. We are pressing charges against the employee for assault (camera verified the incident.) All this from a sweater that she had every right to return. Women, please be careful shopping this location alone. They employ men who will treat you any kind of way when there is no male presence with you.

Update: I went in to get some comfy shoes for work. I observed one staff member loudly complaining to her coworker about a work issue. I ended up asking the sales clerk about whether they carried loafers by their sneaker brands and she said no, that they only carried lace up sneakers. When I went over to that section myself, there were at least 8 styles of loafers. I carefully selected ones that would work and laid them on the counter. The other sales clerk was helping a senior woman, but she was not very patient with her. She also didn't acknowledge my presence at all, despite my bringing 8 pairs of shoes up to the counter. I stepped away for a second to get my other things and continue to browse. When I came back, all my shoes had been put away. When I told the first clerk what had happened, she said they couldn't just leave all the shoes cluttering up the counter for other customers. I told her that the 2nd clerk saw that I brought them up there, but didn't acknowledge me. It just seemed like neither person was friendly and really didn't want to help, so I just walked out. If you are in a profession where you need affordable comfy shoes, look no further. For them to be new, they had several pair that were already under $60 and on sale. The men's dress wear section was skimpy and more geared toward the European cut look with thin material. However, when we went, most of the clothes in that section were half off, so getting a full suit would be around $200-225. It was nice that they were sold as separates for men that wear different sizes on top and bottom.

Not as great as I thought it would be. I was searching for bedding and nothing was in stock. I would find a quilt but the matching pillows and Shams Etc we're not available would have to order things online instead. Or a new store it's just not that great. Had to return a few items as well. Employees could use a lesson in manners. A simple hello or thank you and have a nice day would be nice.

Belk is an interesting Southern experience. Some of the clothes are really weird, but everyone in the store is really nice and helpful.

This store paled in comparison to the one in North Augusta, SC. I anticipated it opening in Augusta, GA but was so disappointed in this store. I went the day after Christmas, expecting to see alot of clearance sales. There was signs hanging from the ceiling throughout the store saying, "up to 80% off," which was a lie. I saw nothing in the ladies Dept, accessories or the jewelry Dept that was over 50% off. The store in North Augusta always has a huge clearance section, this one had 1 small rack that was nearly empty. I had newspaper coupons too, none of which I could use, so the checkout clerk claimed. I had selected a Christmas bracelet that was 50% off, yet seemed to qualify for none of the coupons, not the clearance sale one, not the regular sale one. Surely, if this item is Christmas, it's got to qualify for one of these categories! I told the clerk to forget it, I left the store and do not plan to come back. I went over to SC and shopped there instead. This store in Augusta is a big disappointment.
