Benton KOA Journey

About

We're a family friendly campground located in South Central Illinois. Most people stop and see us for an overnight but you can always stay longer!

Story

Easy, Convenient, Large Sites, Cable TV, Food Service.

With extra-long and wide pull through RV sites, plus easy on and off the highway; a stay at this Journey KOA is all about convenience for the traveler. We are just 1 miles off the highway at exit 71, so if you don't feel like cooking once you get here, there are plenty of places to eat, ranging from independent local restaurants to major fast food chains. Or, you don't have to unhook from your rig. Just settle in and have fresh hot food from the snack shack delivered directly to your site. If you are looking for new things to do, we can give you plenty of ideas and choices.

Our park is located just 2 easy miles from the 19,000 acre Rend Lake (named as the 7th Wonder of Illinois) - with an abundance of recreational activities for people of all ages from boating and beaches, to wildlife demos at the visitor's center. Our area of southern Illinois is known for great fishing, hunting, boating and bird watching opportunities. If golf is your game, try one of the local courses. Their range in skill levels will challenge anyone from beginners to advanced players.

But wait, there's more! The choices do not stop here. Within minutes, you can be at one of several antique stores at the town square, tour our historic jail museum, or shop at the Artisans Shop and Art Gallery that include more than 25 categories of arts and crafts representing the work of Illinois' finest artisans, all available for purchase. A short 15-20 minute drive from our park and you can watch minor league baseball being played in a new stadium that is home to southern Illinois' newest team, "The Miners". Attend an event at the DuQuoin State Fair grounds, or go ATV-ing at Little Egypt Public OHV Recreational Area.

Still need more? For day trips, drive down to the Shawnee National Forest and hike at the Garden of the Gods for views you will never forget. Spend a day sampling the local wines or finding a special antique as you follow the Southern Illinois Antique Trail.

Stay with us and see the improvements we have made!

I am still looking to buy am RV. This KOA has cabins that I can stay in. They are beautiful! Very clean and comfortable. I stayed in one beside the fishing pond. Unfortunately it was 8° outside but still a beautiful landscape. The people in the office are very friendly. Would highly recommend.

Great place to stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food they prepare on site was delicious. We loved camping next to the beautiful pond. We will be back on our next trip back east.

I've stayed at over 15 KOAs and I will say this is one of the nicest. Staff are great, when you visit you can clearly see they take pride in their facility. Dog run was clean and not far from the main facilities. Cabin I stayed in was brand new and even had silverware to use. Would visit this KOA if I travel through Illinois again.

Good, gravel sites in the woods and hills. Well-maintained with facilities for families, pets, and children. Right alongside the interstate so noisy outside your camper. Lots of overnight campers so make reservations ahead. In/out is OK, if a little tight in spots. We got our 43' 5th-wheel in and out without incident, and would stay again without hesitation. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Very nice campground. Large sites with level pads. Our site overlooked the catch and release pond with a swing on site to relax in. Staff very friendly and helpful. They guided us into our back in site in one shot and were awesome with knowing proper hand signals to direct you. We liked the campground so well we decided to stay an extra day and the staff was very accommodating so we could keep the same site. They were also very helpful in getting us the right light bulbs for our camper. Would definitely stay here again. Only negative was that the wifi kept kicking in and out.
