Bert's Bakery has the best cakes and pies. Amy takes the time to sit down with you and design what you are looking for. Top notch!

After years working as a wedding photographer's assistant in downtown Tampa Florida, I have had a lot of wedding cakes. So when I moved to Western Michigan and my own wedding day came around, I sampled all of what Kalamazoo and Battle Creek had to offer. I found that the wedding cake samples I had at Bert's were the absolute best. The buttercream is real butter and real cream. There was absolutly no sweetened lard taste, like you find in most bakeries. I knew Bert's was the best choice, and my wedding cake came out superbly delicious.
UPDATE:
I went back to Bert's and ordered a re-do of my Wedding Cake, boy was I disappointed. It tasted old and possibly frozen.The inside icing layers were meager at best. I wonder why it has gone so far downhill??

I went to Bert's Bakery today to attempt to pick out my wedding cake and invitations. We got there about 10 minutes early so we could start looking through invitation books since we only had an hour appointment. We were greeted by a very crabby woman who said we couldn't look through anything until our exact scheduled appointment time just in case customers came in - last time I checked we were customers!! The cakes taste okay but are very over-priced with very few options of assembly - not flexible at all! The woman we talked to about the invitations was not very friendly and was quick to shoo us out of the store. I would never give money to this business and would never trust them to deliver a cake on time!!
