BETSIE RIVER CAMPSITE in Frankfort, Michigan; Your Up North Camping Destination

Story

Located on the Betsie Valley Trail System and miles from the Southern edge Sleeping Bear National Park we are near bicycling, hiking, fishing and beaches. Large grassy sites with scattered shade. Excellent Trout, Perch, Bass, Pike, Salmon and Steelhead fishing in Lake Michigan or off the beautiful Frankfort piers. We are a mile from the Betsie Bay and close to Betsie River access points. Please note - access to the river involves waders and a 1/4 mile manly hike through the woods (not recommended for little kiddos).

Great little private campground. Cool gift shop and restaurant. Most sites seem to be full sun.

Love this campground. They rent bikes and the path and scenery is beautiful. My wife and I rode up to Lake Michigan, Frankfurt beach in 40 minutes. Clean grounds, clean bathrooms, nice showers, and real nice owners. Can't wait to come back next year. Thanks Al

This Campground was quite nice. The people that work there are very kind, they have a great fish cleaning station with freezer and refrigerator specifically for Anglers. Bathrooms are very well capped campsites are clean and I watched the owners clean up every morning. And there's a very nice Alpaca Farm just up the road! They are too cool. Highly recommend this place :-)

This is a very cosy campground. It's quiet, slow and the people there are great. Tailored around fishing and families I found it was a very pleasant place. The owners watch the speed of traffic so the kids can play. The only drawback is that there's no sewer connections at the site (they do have a dump station) and they have limited 30 amp hook ups. Getting past those to things is easy once you get there and sit under the mature shade trees they have around the sites. I'll definitely be going back.

I've read the positive reviews. I think I must like something different than most other campers. Many people and groups seemed to know each other. The campsites were practically on top of one another, which is good if you know and like your neighbors, but not so good if you're looking for some quiet and privacy. There was no foliage between my campsite and the campsites of my neighbors, and we were about 20 feet from each other, so we were pretty close. LOTS of very loud children. The bathrooms were well maintained and the showers were nice. The camp store is a friendly place with great ice cream. Again, not much in the way of nature.
