The Bible Way Cathedral was started in Danville, Virginia in 1953 by our co- founders Apostle Lawrence Campbell, Sr. and First Lady Gloria Campbell. When they came to Danville, there wasn’t a church to greet them. They started preaching on a vacant lot on White Street, street corners, alleyways, houses, and wherever they could find a place to preach and witness for Christ. From 1953 to 1956, all of the services were held in a class room in the Old Lee Street School Building until the first Church edifice was erected. Our church and pastor have always been involved in a holistic ministry. In 1961, they fought for the integration of the Danville Public Library and public accommodations. In 1963, Mother Gloria Campbell was beaten for protesting against segregation, and Apostle Campbell was arrested several times for civil disobedience.
Our Pastor and First Lady walked and worked with the late Dr. Martin Luther King. In 1968, our church hosted the people who came from the south on their way to Washington, D. C. to be a part of the Poor People's March that was led by Dr. Martin Luther King. Bible Way has always fought for human rights.
What We Believe
WE BELIEVE that salvation comes only through the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and Born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That Jesus ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as our intercessor.
WE BELIEVE that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory and that repentance is re- quired by God and is necessary for the forgiveness of sins.
WE BELIEVE that baptism by immersion must be in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin.
WE BELIEVE that holiness is God’s standard of living for His people.
WE BELIEVE that speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives in utterance is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
WE BELIEVE that divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
WE BELIEVE that the Lord’s supper should be commemorated.
WE BELIEVE that the resurrection and rapture of the true church of God is imminent.
WE BELIEVE that Jesus is God incarnated in the flesh.
WE BELIEVE in the final judgment of the living and dead and the final establishment of a new heaven and earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.
