Big Bear Lodge and Cabins is a resort located on Poplar Lake and just off the historic Gunflint Trail outside of Grand Marais, MN.
Big Bear Lodge is a unique family owned northwoods retreat located in north eastern Minnesota just off the historic Gunflint Trail. Formally Old Northwood’s Lodge, your new Owners and Hosts have spent 3 years renovating the entire property and buildings after acquiring the property in October of 2011. The Lodge is built out of white cedar and has 3 quaint & cozy private guestrooms all with 3/4 baths and one room comes with a spa tub as well. We serve a selected menu of delicious Home made oven baked pizza's, & burgers, for our guests We also have a nice Yukon bar that serves cold beer and wine in what we like to refer to as "the Kodiak Lounge". For our Lodge Room guests we offer breakfast here in the lodge. The Lodge and Lodge rooms along with selected cabins are offered all four seasons except when otherwise posted. Inside the lodge you will find two beautiful huge native stone fireplaces that are wonderful to warm yourself by in the colder months. In addition we have 5 extremely clean, quaint housekeeping cabins all with 3/4 baths, and 1 camping cabin with a new outdoor privy steps away, All cabins have been completely updated top to bottom and come with a complimentary canoe. We are a Semi Remote northwoods vacation retreat for outdoor enthusiasts. Perfect for couples or small groups. We are located on a quiet bay of Poplar Lake which has 4 entry points into the coveted Boundary Water Canoe area. Dogs are welcomed in the cabins, please see our pet policy on our website.
