Bike shops, like auto mechanics, are typically hit or miss and, when you find a good one, you stay with them for life. 

Bikes Unlimited is a good bike shop. 

First off, the staff is absolutely phenomenal. They're friendly, fun to be around and know their way around a bike. I was having some mechanical issues with my Trek Emonda, so I brought it in and asked them to take a look. Van, my favorite mechanic at the shop, took the bike back  behind the counter and immediately started working on it. He then invited me around so he could show me exactly what was going on and what he was doing. Like most road cyclists, I really care about my bike and I like to know what my mechanics are going to do, BEFORE they actually do it. So being able to sit in the back with Van as he explained what he was doing and why was super helpful.

A couple months later, I was in the market for a new bike. I ended up settling on a Trek Damone (which I love, by the way). Van fitted me in the shop and let me take it out for a test ride around Lynchburg. When I decided to purchase a couple of days later, John (the owner) hooked me up with a great deal and made sure I was happy.

Very friendly staff. Good selection of equipment and gear. I've taken various bikes here for assistance and repairs. I've never felt anything but welcome. They even greeted my dog enthusiastically! They have my business whenever I needed bicycle or unicycle work.
