Story

The Art of Eating Local...

Under the management of A Social Affair, the locally well-respected food service company that also caters special events at the Birmingham Museum of Art, Oscar’s serves lunch options that are scaled up in quality, but not in price. The café is committed to fresh local ingredients, drawing on the produce of Jones Valley Urban Farm, just a few blocks away, as well as many other nearby vendors. Oscar’s features the cuisine of chef Lorrin Rames, Hawaiian born and trained by some of the best chefs and cooks in America (starting with his very own mother). The upscale comfort food is just part of the inviting atmosphere bolstered by new furnishings and an open, airy layout that takes advantage of the café’s particularly spectacular vantage point, framed partly by trees and the Charles Ireland Sculpture Garden.

First time and so much better than what I had expected. Absolutely beautiful and amazing peices. Anything from the 1900's to Artwork from today. Anything from furniture to pottery. I can not wait to go back and see what they have to offer next. You can go to their website and find who or what subject they will be featuring next. Cheap to get in and an amazing view for hours to come. They also have a gift shop and restaurant.

Great museum to visit! Free admission but they accept donations at the entrance. Some really cool pieces of art. I really wanted to touch the paintings but I had to restrain.

One word HUGE! The Birmingham art museum is free admissions between noon and five pm. They have friendly, knowledgeable security and staff on each floor for individual inquiries and the protection of the artwork. Provides on site devices linked to there site to help you get a better contextual link to the artist and their work. Some pieces even have audio of the artist or a video of art craft history and making process.

Amazing place to visit in Birmingham, great displays of contemporary and historical art, inside and outside the museum. Features an exhibition called "Third Space" which contains thought provoking works. Different parts of the museum have art from places all around the world in various mediums.
