Black Bear Diner... Specialize in breakfast and served any time of day. Black Bear Diner was established in Northern California... by local inhabitants. The food here is exceptional. The desserts are irresistible... Check out the Bear Claw or the Banana Creme Pies... These proportions were large for desserts... The Breakfast I ate was traditional and good. The atmosphere within the restaurant here is 'home cooked'. The food comes to you perfectly prepared... and delicious. I recommend this restaurant and would eat here again for sure. I just wish I could try out more menu items.
Traditional diner food with a very extensive menu. Portions are huge but if you want something light to eat they also have lighter meals to choose from. Staff was friendly and attentive. Ordered “The Grizz” which is pancakes with eggs, bacon, sausages, ham steak and hash browns. Friend ordered the home style meatloaf with mashed potatoes and veggies. The meatloaf was not served as advertised. The pictures showed the meatloaf in slices but we were served meat mush. Overall this place is okay, if I’m in town I’ll probably come back and try something else on the menu.
This is a family diner in every way. The portions are huge and the food is good. Food isn't "chef prepared cuisine", but it is called a diner for a reason. You will get really good diner food and lots of it. The desserts looked amazing and service was top-notch. The restrooms could use some service if the restaurant is reading this - One of the stalls in the women's room wouldn't close and there's only one working sink.
Very personable staff. Older facility but quaint. Food was ok, nothing to write home about but very large portions. I regret not having tried the desserts but was a bit underwhelmed and didn't want to roll the dice. *** Be sure to ask for a military discount if it applies to you. *** Features: On 3/38/22, there was no requirements for vaccine or masks.
Great place for a breakfast meal. I had ordered the Trio tip sandwich and was amazed by the size of the portion you get for you meal. Indeed a great place to eat. Would of given 5 stars but the spot we were seated at was only 62 degrees even though thermastate set to 74. Otherwise wonderful place to eat.
It's always fun and lovely to see themed restaurants and cafes. I quite enjoyed looking at bears from every angle! I was super stoked when I saw that the sugar packets and even the ketchup had been branded with the bears!!! We had breakfast food and definitely could not finish it. I ordered the volcano pancakes, my stomach was ordering for me. The pancakes were pretty dense and was mediocre for the price. Eggs, bacon and hasbrowns were about the same too. Although the bacon was nice and thick but still crispy which is what I liked. They had a bear mascot came out and gave me a hug which ultimately made my day! Definitely would try out this place if you're looking to eat lots and just enjoy the atmosphere. Bring someone who loves bears!!!
Dinner, three checks, one table of seven. First, let's give credit to our serve, Jack. He was busy, the restaurant was full. He had more than a few large tables/groups in his area. Beverage fills, accurate orders and very professional. The meals: I ordered breakfast, Joe's Hobo omelet with fresh fruit, delicious. Chicken strip dinner, good for my granddaughter. The Prime Rib dinners, a nice size slab of beef and sides with excellent corn bread muffins. The Turkey dinner is always on point. The blackened salmon was moist and flavorful. The four year old loved the Cub's Chocolate Chip pancake. Overall, a good consistent meal compared to other Black Bear Diners.
Food was good but underseasoned - please use some salt & pepper sitting the cooking!! It'll bring out the flavors. My county potatoes were a little dark, and I got lots of little bits like a "bottom of the bag" kind of thing. Huge portions! I put half in a to-go container right away so that I wouldn't stuff myself, because aside from the lack of seasoning, it was so good! Husband said his chicken fried steak was just OK, but he probably wouldn't order it again. He loved his big fluffy pancakes, though.
The server was not friendly from the start. We eventually got another one, and it was much better. The ambiance is not the best carpet looked rugged and unclean. Ladies restroom very unclean. Can do better 5/10Food: 3/5
The pot roast was cold when placed on the table. We arrived right at opening, so were somewhat surprised that the staff weren't ready for customers yet. The server could have been in the cast of Waiting, so we didn't dare let in how displeased we were with the pot roast. The country fried steak was good for being in the north and saved a star in my rating.
