I have mostly had good interactions with Blacksburg police. They do their jobs well and are really accessible to students. They once stopped me on the street in the middle of the day, asked me for my ID, and told me if I didn't give it to them, the guy was gonna put me on the ground and take it. He was the worst. But other than that...

They hire uneducated high-school droppouts who were bullied their entire lives to work so that they can get away with cheap labor and generate revenue based on the anger and rage from said uneducated high-school droppouts who are no more than bullies with badges.

They have always helped me when I needed help. When my college student neighbors threw noisy parties and would not let me sleep, they came out at 2 in the morning and dealt with them. Wrote a noise violation ticket on the loudest of them. So that's not letting students get away with bad behavior. Speaking for myself, I appreciate our officers a lot.

Is there less than 1 star? Been here 7 years, worst cops I've ever come across. Take bribes, sell confiscated stuff (from what I hear), and the deputy sheriff swerves and drives around wrecklessly like he is drunk in his pv. Then yells at you when you drive by and give him a dirty look and then he pulls me over in his sweat pants acting belligerent and intoxicated and spouts off about sending me 3 tickets in the mail. So yeah, quite unprofessional to agree with all the other comments. We'll see how rigged this one turns out to be too.

I lived in Blacksburg years ago. Extremely local, unprofessional, and extremely unorganized. Would never set foot into such a backward, uncomfortable setting. These guys let any college student get away with anything and picked their quota buy buying/commissioning hillbillies and thugs to get money out of hard working locals.
