Story

At Bleu Northeast Seafood we aim to provide a warm, friendly and refined dining experience in a comfortable and modern setting. We celebrate the connection of Burlington and Lake Champlain to the sea by providing the finest quality regional seafood. While giving a nod to the French heritage of the lake’s namesake we draw influence from the St. Lawrence region well as the New England coast and the Canadian Maritimes. We work with small purveyors and fishermen to ensure the fish are caught or raised with the most sustainable practices possible. In true Vermont style we also work closely with area farmers and food producers to get the highest quality meat, produce, cheese, and baked goods.

Everything was plated nicely, and several dishes were memorably good. The seared scallop and pork belly appetizer made us happy, and the beet risotto that came under my redfish was good to the last bite. Definitely over-the-top flavors, and a level of richness that's not strictly needed or wanted - at least in some of the dishes we had, like the blackened salmon. Decent wine selection, and the kind of service you'd hope for.

Remember the SchoolhouseRock PSA "Don't drown your food!"? That fits perfectly. Pedestrian seafood at Marriott-captive prices. Over seasoned, over sauced on both the calamari and swordfish. Chef bludgeons the palate, little to no nuance in flavor in favor of over-the-top bombastic saturated flavors and spices, better suited to a rib joint than the delicacy required for the kind of seafood this place advertises and charges for. Service typical for the area, competent but not special. Unlikely to return.

My partners food was delectable. However I ordered the if not close to the most expensive thing on the menu. Salmon en papillote. Perhaps I am mistaken but to me the price does not match the quality. Vegetables not even chopped besides inedible ends removed and the spices and flavors were non-existent. Just don't order the en papillote.

It's very convenient if you are staying at the courtyard. I was not impressed with the food or the service. I dined with them on a Saturday night and then on a Sunday morning. Both times I was disappointed. I don't know if it was because I didnt look like their normal clientele or what. But ordered the fish and chips, the chips were nice and hot the fish was heavily battered and wasn't seasoned at all.For $25 I was hoping for it to at least be above average. My server seemed rather eager to get me out of his section, or thought I was going to dine and ditch. He came multiple times as I was still eating trying to grab my plate as I was still eating, but failed to refill the Sprite I had empty on the edge of my table. It wasn't until I was done with my food and he had walked passed my table 6 times within 45 minutes did he refill my soda. Out of those 6 times he was ready to take my plate at least half of those time. I guess since I wasn't spending over $100 he was ready to get me out of there.... Saturday my server was a little better the food was average but yet again for $20 2 eggs bacon and a pancake . I could have gone back out in the could over to Henrys diner........The hostess were nice. But for an upscale restaurant the service lacked, and the food isn't worth the money.
