The original concept of Body Rehab Gym originated in 2013. After 14 years of practicing physical therapy in the clinic, Paul (one of the co-founders) believed there had to be a better way of dispensing the information he would share with his patients. Though working with each patient one-on-one was gratifying, he found that he would be repeating much of the same information to all his patients.
He envisioned leading a group exercise class to be able to help more people at the same time, to create a sense of community between members, and at the same time reduce the cost associated with the therapeutic exercises learned in physical therapy. It was important that those who ordinarily wouldn’t be able to afford physical therapy could now have access.
Though this idea was good conceptually, the actual exercise program still needed to be built. It wasn’t until 2015 that something would start to materialize, when Paul met Amanda while working in the same Portland clinic. Amanda's strong exercise background was a perfect fit for helping to develop the exercise program that Paul had envisioned. After two years of conversations over tea and Thai food, the two would eventually combine forces in a joint endeavor. Even despite Amanda moving to Houston, the duo finally managed to create Body Rehab Gym in 2017.
